As the title states, Is it a good idea to use this when you cannot get a CMR tune for it? I mean, is it worth the $$$$ to use it w/o the tune? I know there will be gains but I've also heard that with this on a stock engine, that it can actually hurt the engine of some performance. What do you guys think? I expect Ron (1bad4dr) to chime in as well :)

if the car in question is mildly modded (exhaust, cai, t-stat) then the canned tunes in a pred are just fine. the issues that came around in the early predator release was people with more heavily modded cars (cams, etc) not running safely in regards to a/f mixtures on a canned tune. some went even as far as to try and "tweak" things with the pred and fouled things up worse. bottom line, if your car is pretty much stock, the canned tunes in the predator are just fine.....

oh yeah, don't expect ron to chime in.......he has no idea what he is talking about!!! dahahahahahaha

lol, Well my car as of now is stock. Just got it the end of December around the 29th I think. I'm not sure if I should do any mods to her yet or not. I got the mod bug baaaad but I think I might just do some rims for now unless I get the Mopar intake but that will give me some massive heat-soak from the engine bay.

So should I just hold off for now?

Well, put it this way: I tune with a Diablosport Predator, and I've never been CMR tuned.

    My results have been good.

Is it something that an amature could attempt w/o thrashing up his car?

I would HIGHLY recommend a wideband air fuel ration gauge. And then, an amatuer could certainly do it.

The Diablo for a CAI/Catback/180 t-stat modded car is THE mod to get. Period. Dramatic difference in shifting and simply overall engine performance... set fans to keep car cool... its the best bang for the buck mod.

As far as tuning, there are CERTAIN things an amateur can do, but if you're a REAL amateur (like me) its best to get advice before fiddling around.

Well luckly for me, I have Ron here locally that could possibly help me. I don't want to get an exhaust because the car will be used to lug around clients to show Real Estate, secondly is because it's illegal to have modified exhaust systems in the city of Albuquerque, NM.

T-Stat and CAI are more feasible for me to do, and headers if need be. Maybe I could get the Mopar Catback if they offer one because factory upgrades aren't illegal because they are offered from the dealer as dealer parts.

Hmmm, that would be odd but who knows what a city will do. Mopar sells some parts that are designated "for off road use only" and wouldn't be legal by the state even if they were by the city. You mentioned Ron... who lives there and possibly has one of the loudest exhausts known to man .

The Mopar (made by Corsa) cat back is VERY mellow as long as you are just puttering around (nice tone though). Just a bit louder than stock and mainly from outside the car. Same thing cruising on the freeway. With throttle it sounds just wonderful. NO drone any time.

Get the Predator. Get a wideband if you want to tweak the tunes that come with it (you will... you won't be able to help yourself ).

:hmm:Ron for tuning advice  He's certainly got a lot of experience... but he did shoot himself (inside the car) with fix-a-flat trying to figure out the compressor that comes with the car :rofl2::rofl2::clap::rofl2::rofl2: (just in case anyone forgot about that...i know Ron's trying to)

Do NOT look into the business end of the hose to see if anything is coming out while operating the compressor. Especially do not do this while sitting INSIDE the car (you did notice Ron has all new seats right?). I'll let Ron give you detailed operation instructions.

seriously though, your car comes with a compressor with a can of fix-a-flat tire goop hooked up to it. If you get a slow leak like a nail the idea is that it will get you to where you can get it fixed. Tire goop is not good to put in any tire and especially ours. It will only temporarily plug the smallest of leaks, it has to be removed when the tire is fixed (the guy fixing it will hate you), and there is a good chance you will have to replace your tire pressure sensor. Bypass the tire goop and get one of these instead www.dynaplug.com

I can help you with the Predator if you decide to get it.

The beauty of it is you can do some adjustments to other things as well. Fans, shift points. blah blah blah...

Call me if you need me brotha.
