This isn't my thread or my car, but I felt that it was important to show everyone how sturdy these cars are when taking a hit. This car did NOT have side curtain airbags. Here is the original thread, but I cut and pasted the particulars below: http://www.lxforums.com/board/showthread.php?t=107998

"I was taking my daughter and her boyfriend to driving school and we were hit directly in my door by a 2007 Ford F-350 and then head on into a SUV. The driver said that he ran the red light and that he was doing about 40mph . My daughter has a small bruise on her head and another on her leg. Her boyfriend was in the right rear seat and is still in the hospital, waiting for a MRI, otherwise just sore. I have a separated left shoulder, bruised knees and a huge knot on my head. I think my head hit the glass, B-Pillar, or headlight of the truck."

The MRI turned out negative, so really just bumps and bruises for everyone after a 40MPH t-bone accident. After the pics, you'll be glad you own one too.

Lucky no one was really hurt.

Couldn't imagine getting hit by anybody in a side impact drivers door let alone a big pick up truck.

    Magnum saved their lives!

Glad I got one of those.

If he had left the side moldings on it probably would have rubbed right out.

Not to pimp the thread, or pitch another brand, but I have a similar story. As you may or may not know I am a firefighter in Naples, Fl. We responded to a vehicle accident on I-75 about 9 years ago at about 8:30 in the morning. The weather was clear and warm. When we arrived there was a 92ish Chevy Suburban sitting upright on top of a mid 80s full size Buick. The Suburban was sittin so that it was making a cross with the buick and the driver's door was in the middle of the roof of the buick. The driver of the suburban was sittin with the door open and his feet on the buick smoking a cigarette to calm his nerves. He explained to me as I checked him for injuries that he was traveling at about 70-75 mph when he drifted off the right side of the road due to talking on the phone and looking down. When he looked up the Buick, which had run out of gas, was about 20 feet in front of him. He didn't have time to hit the brakes and hit the car squarely. All of the windows except for the wind shield were broken out, but the passenger compartment was intact and the doors still opened.

I bought a suburban before my son was born a couple of months later. I hope to never need that level of protection from my charger, but I'm happy to know it's there, side curtains too.

I don't think that will rub out.... :fear:

Pretty wild... Glad everyone is ok. I would have been missing an arm, as it always hangs out the window. :bang:

Good to hear that everyone is relatively okay. Any chance do you have a picture of the inside of the driver's door? Thanks.
