I'd love to hear some verbal or soundbite feedback regarding running catless. I'm considering the kooks catless mids. I have a catted mid and a catless mid for my Mustang but never installed the catless mids b/c of owners complaining of the raspy, ricey sound it made. I'm looking to pull the trigger on some LT's, mid-pipe and catback sometime this week, along with a cai & diablo.

I do not have any vehicle inspections in my county.

My goal is a 400rwhp(+) family sedan so I don't want anything that sounds like a John Deere tractor [translation - I cannot afford a divorce:grin: so it has to remain a family vehicle, just with a nice deep idle & a screaming banshee at WOT! -- all of course with a nice low cruise tone, that's not too much to ask for is it?].

I've heard that you get a slight increase in sound, but not a distinct change in sound.

brainfart... I totaly spaced that you are catless.:bag: Yours is the sound I like. No way I can go Magnaflows though, thats what the Viper had, wife hated it (too loud - for her). Maybe b/c the Viper had mufflers the size of small coffee cans... I may need something more subdued.

Personally, I will NEVER go catless in another car again. Forget the whole "ozone" crap...it was raspy, had drone, and did not give that much more performance (dyno 3 RWHP difference) than with cats or a high flow cat setup. I'd go high flows before I considered catless again. Just my opinion. :)

How do I get the cats off? I haven't really talked to any shops about it but I heard they can't remove them with out putting another set on. I was thinking about just hacking them off and driving down with them off and then have the new exhaust put on. Any hints Ron?
