I have a question on the DCR Pick Up Tube. Could the pick up tube be used with the stock oil setup? Meaning can it be used without getting the windage tray or can this only be used with the windage tray? I've just always been curious and plan on little by little working on the oiling system.
You can purchase the DCR Pick Up Tube separately from the DCR Windage Tray, DCR Crank Scraper and DCR Baffle. Although, you will need to still remove your balance shafts and therefore plug the oil feed hole when you remove the balance shafts. The complete purpose behind the DCR Windage Tray is to remove the windage while the DCR Crank Scraper removes excessive oil from the crank and the DCR Baffle centers the oil for easier pick up with the DCR Pick Up Tube. The DCR Pick Up Tube is larger in diameter and is one smooth bend, unlike the O.E. Pick Up Tube. Don't be mistaken- the New O.E. Oil Pump with DCR Oil Pump Gears are not just coated like others in the market. We actually notch and machine the gears in order to remove the tight clearance of the gears in the pump (excessive flow and hp on O.E. pump gears can make them cease up and crack). Finally, the DCR Big Filter Kit removes the oil cooler (acts as an oil restrictor) and replaces the small filter with an oil filter that can handle the increase flow and amount of oil used. The DCR Complete Oil System is designed to be sold as a complete kit for the purpose of solving all the O.E. oil issues for increase of 300hp and above. Although, I can understand purchasing pieces because of a budget. Believe me- racing will hurt the pocket. The best deal is purchasing the DCR Complete Oil System on our website www.DCRSRT.com, in which it is $500. If you purchase each piece individually, you'll end up spending $100 more.
Thank you Jennifer! I'll be purchasing either the whole kit or piece by piece in the near future. I know for sure I need the DCR oil pump at this time.
