i stole this from a guy named arnie on digitalcorvettes: http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/01/d...8-dodge-viper/ Imagine making the purchase of your dreams - a brand new 2008 Dodge Viper with only five miles on the odometer. It's sitting safely in the showroom without a scratch just waiting for you to drive it off the lot. The only thing it needs is a tank of gas, which of course the dealership offers to pay for. Here's where the story goes terribly wrong. A member of SRTForums.com and employee of a Southern California Dodge dealership says that the Viper was headed back from the gas station and only about 1/8 of a mile from the dealership (!) when the driver lost control of the 600-horsepower beast and crashed into four parked cars. The result is one severely smashed up snake. We'll be watching eBay Motors for a low miles, slightly scratched 2008 Dodge Viper with a full tank of gas. Before: After:
no kiddin! im wondering how fast he was going...only 1/8mi from the dealership..oh man he musta been working on his 60ft or something.
This story was started on another forum by a guy who works at the dealership. He said neither the porter who wrecked the car or the salesman who was in the passenger seat got fired. :what:

Markus, pester Ryan to post his story on a test drive he took with a Dodge dealership employee. Let's just say it involves a traffic stop, the store manager and Ryan trying to keep his work identity concealed!
As a joke they told us at the SRT TE that about 3/4 of them never make it home from the dealership. Anybody got stats on that? I would think there is a little bit of truth to that. Those things have SO much friggin horse power, full race suspension, street tires, and no ESP. I can imagine creeping off the lot, driving around with a feather foot for a while, starting to feel comfortable and then ...
Yea no kidding! How stupid do you have to be driving a 90 thousand dollar car like that?!?!? Geez, what a moron. Probably thought it was his one and only chance to "punch it" in a Viper, idiot. You know at the TE last month one of the instructors said 1 in 5 Vipers are crashed on the way HOME from the dealership. Never said about how many were crashed BY the dealership, lol!
So that's the one Momo traded in for his Mustang? Looks like more than a curb rash to me there Brudda!
I have a customer who owns two dealerships and told me the same thing, that large numbers of Vipers never make it home. Will ask him if he knows any statistics next time I see him. Bill
I can believe that..... because when I did the drifting course / mini auto cross at the Track Experience we ran in 2nd gear in the Viper and it would get squirrly by just giving it a little too much at 40 mph in 2nd, I couldn't imaging crushing it when the wheels were not pointed staight ahead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yea, it was raining and everything was soaked when we did it too!! Oh boy was that fun, lol. God was up there thinking "what could I possibly do to make it harder for these guys to drive a Viper ... oh I know, RAIN!" Hahahhahaaaa
