Hello everyone........this is Tony/Havok's wife, Leah. I wanted the opportunity to personally thank all of you, from the bottom of my heart for all your prayers, cards & gifts for our son Joseph. Nothing could have prepared me for the outpouring of support we have received from all of you, from literally one corner of the country to the other. To date, Joey has received 42 cards & 14 packages. Imagine a normally very active 3 year old, who LOVES to run & play, being completely unable to even walk. With the first surgery, they gave him a walking cast, but because the 2nd surgery was more involved, he was unable to bear any weight on his left foot at all for almost 3 weeks, but each time the doorbell rang, his little face lit up because he knew the mailman was bringing him another surprise. He thinks we have the most awesome mailman ever, lol. I truly can't thank you enough for giving him that to look forward to....to simply say "thanks" seems lacking. Joe's cast was removed a little over a week ago & he is doing great. The skin graft on his foot is completely healed, however there is still a chunk of skin that has to grow back, so it's a little sore & sensitive, and it feels awkward enough that he walks tippy-toed on that foot unless he has his shoes on. The muscles in his ankle were a little weak after all that time in one position, but he is making such great progress with every new day & at times, walks almost normal, so long as his shoes are on. For those of you who have truly been praying for him, I have to share with you just how blessed we have been. Because this type of tumor was such a rare occurance, there was a team of pathologists working together to give us a diagnosis, one of whom who specializes in nothing but soft tissue sarcoma...he is housed in Boston. The pathology report after the 1st surgery gave the diagnosis of low-grade soft tissue sarcoma, however after the 2nd surgery, the final pathology report states that after reviewing all the tissue & consulting with the guy from Boston, along with the fantastic doctors at All Children's, it is, in fact, a very rare BENIGN tumor. No conclusive evidence of malignancy!!! God continues to reveal Himself to us in this journey, and part of the blessings we have received is that among all the faceless names on these forums (of which I am not even a member), belong people who will forever be part of my heart. You have made such a difference in not only Joey's life, but mine & Tony's also. Thank you for reaching out to a family struggling with uncertainty & fear......may you all continue to be blessings to each other. Much love, Leah Galto

such a handsome lildude. Glad everyone was able to brighten his day. Few people understand that moral of the child is so much more important than money, or hands on help.

Like I told Tony, Fathers have to stick together.

    Update

    Hey Everyone,

Just wanted to give everyone an update. Since Joey's surgery he has been getting better and better each day. He is becoming more surefooted everyday that passes. He is back in school and has been for sometime now. Once in awhile my wife or I have to remind Joey that he needs to walk correctly. He tries to walk on his tippietoes to prevent his foot from hurting. That is how he used to walk before his surgery. Now, he forgets that his foot doesn't hurt him anymore and out of force of habit he goes to walking like that. Joey has a Doctor's appointment today with Dr. Michael Gallant (St. Petersburg, Florida "All Childrens Hospital"). This will be Joey's first check up since the surgery (3 months). I will post up results from the Doctor's office after we get back. Until then, here's a couple of pics of Joey being Joey. Again, Thanks to all who showed love. Tony and Leah.
