WOW indeed...my mother had 3rd degree over 90% of her body, wasn't expected to live, after a 5 year trek of treatment the prognosis looked better, but her ability to walk normally again was small. She is still very sensitive to sunlight and/or radiant heat. That was 35 years ago, she's still with us, and leading a mostly normal life. My older brother was working for ExxonMobil refinery, his job was to take crude samples, bring them into the lab for analysis. One day while doing this, a sample probe seal gave way and 600 degree crude hit him at high pressure and covered his lower body. SEVERELY burned both his legs...he spent a year in the burn unit and the pain I saw him go through was horrific. He told me the skin graphs they had to do was just as painful as the burn itself....I sure wish this technology was available for them at those times. This is a HUGE leap in burn care. Thank God.
