Last night on the way home from the track, I reset my MPG meter, and drove in the 75 -80 mph range and got 15.6 mpg the whole time

That article is bogus. The NSL to 55.

What a bunch of B.S. Global Warming or Global Cooling, which is it this year, caused by humans is a crock.

The can't even predict the weather one week from now let alone 10 or 100 years from now.

What will slow us down are these obscenely $3.90/prem high gas prices. i know tommorrow they will probably be higher.

But personally don't really start driving until about 80 would like to go 110 and in our cars it's easy to mantain. Would like about an 88mph speed limit.

Yes you do get better gas mileage if you maintain your momentum.

I would venture about 60-75 is about the best gas mileage range for the LX cars. The real key is how you accelerate.

But with these cars it's hard not to use the SRT power. Especially with some idiot drivers and I'm sure we all see them every day.

    Nice Sam!
You pretty much posted what I was going to say.

    Another issue: Drivers.
Jamming on the brakes because the green light reminds you of your childhood fear of boogers is f'ing up everyone else behind you, causing them to brake-then-accelerate...and thus increasing pollution.
Not that you'd notice any of the other vehicles around you. What's happening on your cell is much more important, right?

In my gigantor V-f'ing-10, I have a choice: I can get 20 MPG (no kidding) or 0.0 MPG. Even though it's got a limited spectrum, I have complete control over my MPG.
Dropping the speed limit would actually INCREASE pollution and REDUCE fuel efficency on fuel, esp. in today's computer-monitored vehicles.

I think Sammy speaks for many of us....

Everyone's made great points, Chris, Curtis, Sam, I all agree 100% (Chris I got 22 on a trip out to Vegas cruisin at 80 with numerous 80-120 jaunts ... to pass others of course, lol ... couldn't believe it). As for 55, not a chance, you'll die around here tryin to drive that speed and that's not an exageration. Actually around here at least, it seems people are almost driving FASTER even tho gas prices are so high (3.90?!?!? Lucky you, try 4.30 here and rising!!). Only thing to do is grin and bear it like with anything else.

Not to mention some of the ass-hats who design today's roadways or revise them in someway to add another dozen lights on a stretch. By my house they opened another home depot and installed a new light where there was no intersection...apparently they feel the need to have people wait and idle their cars long after 9pm with no idea that a properly placed sensor would do wonders for, well everyone! TOTAL FAIL!

That could be the ONLY benefit to the roundabout they just installed here.

Then again, since serious auto accidents have increased 300% after installing the roundabout, all the fuel, antifreeze, oil, trans. fluid, and brake fluid that has been spilled onto the roadway and drained into the water and killing the land beneath it for the next, oh, 10,000 years.....sort of negates any possible advantage.

    $13 million......FLUSH.

So is it like a Laser jammer??

I heard the k40 is good but the cop can retune his laser gun and hit it again on you and then it will tell him the speed you are traveling.
