i was putting in my HID fog lights yesterday and i noticed this troubling sight on my front drivers side tire. let me know what you think caused it. you can also see the uneven wear all around the inside of the tire. here is how new the tires are and how much tread they have left. there is also uneven wear around the outer edge of this tire. the passenger side tire has no uneven wear. i had this same problem on my last set of tires, BEFORE i installed my new suspension and lowered it, so i dont think its a camber issue, also just by looking at them, the camber isnt off. could it be by having low pressure in that tire? the valve stem was loose on it, so it used to slowly leak air. i tightened it and the problem went away. i havent checked the rest of the inner section of that tire so i dont know if theres any more tears in the thing, but is this something catastrauphic?
I think there is a TSB on that Mark? I know that some of our cars have alignment issues which also causes what you have shown. Another thing to think of is when you store the car when you go oversea's for several months. If it is not in a controlled environment, the tires will start to dryrought? Take it to the dealer and have them give it a diagnosis.
hmm. these are new tires, bought them after i got back from my last pump. i have noticed my alignment has been off by a c**t hair with both tires properly inflated. ill have to look at the tsb. these are f1's but not the f1's that came with her origionally. you think that would matter?
Well then that changes everything. hahaha Go back to where you purchased the tires and have them replace those tires under their warranty program. Looks like you got a bad batch of tires.
i bought them from a guy who took them off a brand new 300. he's a chrysler tech, ill give him a shout
Does it look like you flat-spotted it (except it's on the shoulder)? Doesn't go all the way around? I've got one like that but mine are about wore out. I think it's tread separation. If it is then it's not good... maybe even catastrophic since it can blow out any time. If it's tread separation it doesn't matter if you lowered the car or not. Warranty for that is on the tire.
Yea. You said they were pretty new/low mileage. If it's tread separation then it's going to be covered or at least pro-rated. Take it to a Goodyear store or dealer and tell them someone told you it was a defect -- something like tread separation and you want them to replace it. I'd say it's very likely a defect. If it was THAT much out of balance and THAT much out of alignment all at the same time then it would have felt like you were driving on Barney Rubble wheels. ...I'm sort of remembering that you said you bought them from somebody else? Even so, I think maybe Goodyear covers it no matter what.
Shiat marky, that blows, I agree with Ron and Dave, tsb at dodge or warranty at goodyear, one of them should cover that cause that's a defect plain and simple. Good luck bro! (I wonder if that was caused by going 120 mph around a blind corner in the rain in the dark racing a mudstain ... hehe)
