Last Saturday I had an 80s model mustang (ya know, the ones that you can't tell if its a mustang unless you know its a mustang cause its so plain, just has a 5.0 badge on the rear?) driver try to smoke his tires for my benefit. The thing was beat to hell and rather than producing smoke it just made a really sad squirrelly sound. His girlfriend in the passenger seat was mortified. I'm kinda mortified that THAT's the kind of attention my car gets. *sigh* So the good news is, Maddy doesn't appear to have any issues requiring surgery (went for a follow up consult with a pediatric surgeon today). Yay! :baby: The bad news is, my beautiful blacked out tails have got to go, got a fix-it ticket this morning on the way to Maddy's appointment, right outside my apartment complex by a Dublin bike cop who apparently LIKES pulling over LXes. He asked if he'd pulled me over before. I have sixty days to go back to OEM tails, which luckily I have some. Just depressed because the custom tails really set off the car. Come to think of it, may have to go back to an OEM or CARB approved CAI and put the airhammer away and maybe even the Zoomers too. Put them all in storage until the apocalypse or we move to some place that's less car-nazified. There should be a kicking dirt emote cause that's how I'm feeling right now. oh: Oh and Friday I take Maddy to get FIVE vaccinations, so this weekend will be sooo much fun. Granted it was my choice to do all five at once rather than space them out, but I figured one really bad day beats a series of slightly less bad days. She's going to hate me either way...
sorry to hear all that tam. that sucks. i meant about the crustang guy. jk. you gotta get out of the peoples republic of california!
well... first....horay for Maddy doing well... second....that sucks....they look SO good too :sorry:....thats so discrimination lol third....CA is CARB Nazi land that sucks....god forbid you have a car with fun toys on it :mad2: and fourth...its for the best....now the needles are behind her and no more worries ! but sorry your week sucked so hard Tam
Yikes! Five shots!?? We freak out with 1 in each leg...it literally kills us to see it but you don't know nowadays....so not much choice. Sucks about the po po there and the ticket...Ontario is becoming an eco-nazi type province and I hate it.
Well, having been diabetic for 26 years, for me shots are no big thing and I know that it sucks short term but considering everything else she's been thru, she'll be over it in a few days if not a few hours. *fingers crossed*
Yeah, one thing to watch out for is a fever afterward and sometimes a rash. I'm kind of surprised the doc is allowing it...but they know better than me. I know our doc has double up vaccines in one syringe though a couple of times....Don't know what it may be called out in Cali....but we use some Tempra (acetamenaphine for babies) about 1/2 hour before and then rub some Emla on her legs...ours didn't even cry much after one in each leg. The ointment stiff works awesome..
Tam... sorry to hear about the tails.. but I got pulled over for no front plate coming down Angeles Forest Hwy (back route form LA to Palmdale) and the CHP argues with me regarding having tinted windows (on my Mag)... long story short he got p/o when I showed him that none of my windows have been altered or tinted and went on to say if he found an altered window he could write me up for everything he found..he says that his neighbors Magnum does not have tinted windows so he knows.. I reply go check out an RT or SRT.. so now he checks the fronts, rear doors, rear side and rear window.. When can't find anything he writes me a ticket for no front plate... Re the multiple inoculations.. please check with your pediatrician as to what is being administered.. we elected not to have our kids inoculated all at once, but spread them out over 6 - 8 weeks.. some studies have shown that the multiple does administered in one setting can potentially in rare instances have other long term implications..
I asked and the pediatrician said it made no difference. Also they said five vaccinations, which may not mean five shots if they're combining them. These aren't ALL her vaccinations, just the ones appropriate for two months. Also, they asked me to bring children's tylenol drops for the pain. Maddy's already endured a PICC line (big tube up the leg into her belly), multiple IVs, two Barium enemas, and a feeding tube up her nose. After all that, like I said, this shouldn't be nearly as bad...hopefully. It won't be fun or easy...but yay parenting....
tam, when you get ready to get rid of em, give me a pm. ill trade you mine if you dont have a clean set already.
I've got Ron's OEM tails from when he talked me into getting the custom tails. So I'm set there. I think I'll hold onto them for a while.
That's most likely what they're going to do T. They'll combine the shots into one syringe....I hope. Yes, children's tylenol drops are great, but Emla (which is a topical anesthetic for infants) is the shit. Once we were told about it, we never went without....you just rub some on her legs prior to the shot and it makes life for everyone soooo much easier.
Tam, sorry to hear bout the tails, that sux, you know I was wondering if those things were legal in Nazi-land and now I know. You know you don't have to smog your car for 6 years now from the date of purchase so I wouldn't worry bout the cai and catback for now, unless you got a fix-it ticket for those too. Can they give you one for those?!?! Stupid Nazi-ville. :mad2:
They "could" write me up for the CAI / exhaust. I guess being a chick, they don't expect me to have done any under-the-hood or performance type mods. :sly: I think the Zoomers are kosher because they're cat-BACKs, so they'd have no impact on the emissions...in theory at least... The Airhammer on the other hand is specified for "off-road' use. So they could in theory bitch about that... This is why I drive like a grandma around town and try to not drive like a maniac on roads/freeways. I like my car the way she is, don't wanna have to go de-modding her. The cop did note that my driving was fine (nothing to write me up for). So at least there's that. Still, it sucks having to put $500 custom taillights in storage.
And yes, as bummed as I am about the tails, I'm very happy with Maddy's progress. The surgeon commented that she looked like a very healthy/lively newborn.
Yea, I think this has been talked about before, a catback is not an emissions issue at all, I believe it's in the vehicle code book that in Cali now at least it's illegal to modify a cars exhaust in any way. I think. We can prolly all thank the ricers and their fart cans for that! It wouldn't be a smog issue, just a vehicle infraction and a fix-it ticket I think. Glad Maddy's doin good!!!!!!
well...so much for me ever living in Cali hahaha.... that is SO lame... i would be pissed if i was you Tam :mad2:
I'm too tired honestly and more worried about Maddy. If I have to put the car back to stock/OEM I will. If nothing else I'll hold onto the car and do crazy mods to it when I retire to someplace else where they don't care if you have a 50 cal rifle or heaven forbid, painted tails. :chair:
