    Marc's being laid off. September 25 is his last day after surviving in the telecom industry for over 13 years, being grandfathered in/over three or four times and working his ass off. I'm trying not to be bitter or panicked, but I'm not working, my trust fund will be gone in a few months. He's getting maybe 4 weeks severance and we have some savings put aside with some credit cards to pay off and my student loan which will be due when I graduate or drop out of school.

    We've already been cutting back on spending, but we'll be doing some more now. If it comes down to it, my charger is paid off and lightly modded. Not that anyone would buy one right now. Just asking you keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

    It'll be alright T... always a light at the end of the tunnel. May be a little tough at first, but just hang in there.

    We're taking stock of what we have and what we need versus what we can live without. Its not the end of the world, its just a kick in the gut on a Monday morning to wake up to Marc talking to his boss about when his last day is. But no time to cry and feel sorry for ourselves, just gotta get on the ball and find something else.

    Been there, done that. If it's any consolation, things may work out even better than they were. While being laid off was tough for an old fart like me (55 then) I ended up with a $20K better salary and infinitely better working conditions.

    Here's hoping it turns around quickly, and for the better !

    just out of curiousity, who did marc work for??? my brother has been working with XO for years and is one of there top sales guys. maybe i could give him marc's number??? my brother is in sacto.

    He works/worked for Avaya as a Customer Service Engineer II I think it is. Basically deals with the programming for the big Avaya switches and the VOIP. Has a CCNA and the Extreme switch certification. He's trying to connect with an associate to get his Avaya certification here in the next week or two.

    Tam -
    I know you don't really listen to what I say. But this is happening for some odd reason. God works in mysterious ways. As you guys work through this, you will become something you weren't before, and God needs you to see that. I know you're not giving up, hell, your words above imply focus and determination!!! I just hope you see this as an opportunity for your relationships with the people you love, to grow stronger, not tear them down.

    It's so easy for people to let things like this ruin their life, when these are the exact moments that can make you 10 times the person you were before!!! And end up being stronger than you ever imagined. I'm sure you guys will be fine, you're good people. :)

    Chase: I listen to you *swat* And I've been thru some hairy stuff in the past. Yeah, this is scary as hell and initially I was freaked out and nauseous, but then survivor mode has kicked in and Marc and I are making plans and working together to get thru this. We have a baby girl to think about, so we're united on this one. I already feel better about our relationship and its only been a few hours since we found out.

    I've been very blessed to have lived this long in spite of my disease, to have done and seen the things I have, to have met a wonderful and caring man like Marc who really is a GOOD MAN, not part of the time but all of the time, to have a beautiful HEALTHY baby girl in spite of all the odds against her and to have a circle of friends from all over the damn planet who care about me and understand me and most all of my crazy ways.

    So yeah, I'm very thankful and I'm going at this as a challenge to overcome and come out of a stronger, better person. That and I'm from Alabama, originally, so its in the genes practically. :bigwink:
