Hi guys just a question for you. And quite possibly a really stupid question. I am about as mechanically gifted as a shoe lace. If a car has a supercharger installed and tuned. Then water/methanol injection was added does it need to be retuned? I was just thinking would this work or does it totally not work. Just thinking that, if the system was tuned without water/methanol injection, and it was added afterwards....it would help and maybe make it even safer, with less chance of detonation, and if for some reason the water/methanol stopped working....it wouln't matter because it wasn't initailly tuned with it. Thanks Qantasman
If you are using it for cooling purposes ONLY...NO... IF you are planning to use it for additional octane rating of the the methanol....yes. Unless you have a failsafe device for the water/meth system I would not consider it SAFER for detonation as there is always the possiblity of it not spraying.. I run a water/meth for cooling purposes only during the HOT summer months. I do not use it during the winter. You may notice your AFR being a tad richer at times when you use the water/meth. I have actually lost mph during the winter months when I have used the water/meth but than again I am N/A.
How long would a windshield wiper bottle of fluid last? How is the injection timed? Can you use standard windshield wiper fluid? If you use 50/50 water methanol does that cause any damage to your paint or windshield, is it corrosive? Cheers Qantasman
1) That is COMPLETELY dependent on how you drive....I have about 1000 miles on my car since my blower/meth install...and have gone through roughly 1/2 my tank. If you have a very heavy foot, it will empty much faster, light foot, much slower. 2) If you get a kit that has a injection controller, it will do a progressive spray. So if you have a blower on your car, you can set it to spray 25% spray at 3lbs of boost or whatever, and full spray only when it gets to 7+ lbs of boost. It is adjustable. My labonte meth kit has a controller that i can adjust in 2 secnods as they are just dials. 3) Yes you can use normal wiper fluid. But you have to ensure there are no additives. You want to use a mix with ONLY water, meth, and the blue coloring. No de-icers, or anything like that. 4) the 50/50 mix is only about 25-15% more meth to water than in normal wiper fluid, so I cant see it being a huge hazard.
