I was thinking maybe about a section that would involve members helping other members about their experience in certain local areas. Example: I am visiting Key West next week and if anybody could recommend a resturant or hotel from personal experience or what the locals recommend. If someone came to my area I could recommend certain things to do. Just a thought. Sam
I like the way you think Sammy, but the only thing I heard about key west...well lets just say I don't swing that way. I am married to a woman. Sorry! But if you ever go to Freeport Jamaica, go to the center of town and just stand around. The locals will spot you and supply you with all the party supplies you need.
I like it...smells like a section that might get lost in the mix though... I think throwing up a thread in the lounge would be your best bet with that...and just endlessly bumping it until you got a response haha
Thanks Steve for the warning and yes I am taking my wife. Just for you it's Exit 82 for me and only if you live in NJ do you know what that means! Even if you have a kid in tow they still proposition their party supplies to ya in Jamaica. Actually most of the Caribbean Islands are like that. i just thought reading some quotes by forum members and knowing these SRT's are not cheap that most owners have travelled around and might have some suggestions of what to do and not do. Example when went on my Honeymoon in Hawaii there was this Fern Grotto we experienced and my recommedation is to not go big waste of time. My last visit to Key West I took a ride on PT-109 (at least in the movie). It was a fantastic experience with a person who actually served with John Kennedy to talk about his experience. Sam
Key West is great! :thumb: You should stay at the Westin http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/property/overview/index.html?propertyID=1780 , if you can. It's nice and close to Duval St. and the hotel sits right on Sunset Pier. (Duval St. is where all the bars are... and there is a huge party/vendor section for the "Sunset Celebration" on Sunset Pier every night.) You can walk most anywhere from the Westin. My favorite bar is Hog's Breath Saloon (http://www.hogsbreath.com/key-west/).... and it's almost right accross the street. :zorro: It's cheaper to rent a Jeep Wrangler than one of those goofy electric cars... so we usually just do that. Whatever you do, STAY AWAY FROM THE SOUTH SIDE OF DUVAL STREET!!!!!!!! :supergay: Good luck and God's Speed. LOL! :boxed:
dammm i know this place in DC where you'll fall for the girls by the way they pour the beer. hell one of my coworkers doesnt like beer but after the way she poured it she wanted one just to see her pour it again.
THE MAX I have a really good friend that lives in the Keys and if you want I can give you her number, she and her husband are some of the coolest people I know and just love living there. Seriously PM for her number she would be thrilled to show you around or make suggestions as where to go and what to do.
I am also a member on Trip Advisor www.tripadvisor.com join and go to the section you are planning on traveling too and join the forums there to read and discuss your plans. So far everyone on there has been great when I have asked questions about furture vacate destinations.
You can checkout the HOG CAMs from Hog's Breath Saloon.... they stream live video. :future: Check it out! (There isn't much going on right now, but tune in about 11PM, LOL!!) http://www.hogsbreath.com/hogcam/
The Westin it is! Nothing better than a sunset at Sunset Pier and a Pinya Colada in my hand. What is up with the South Side? I still can't figure out how to respond to multi-quotes. Nevinsrt what is the Herndon? CentralTex I'll talk to the Warden oh I mean my wife. Thanks again. Sam
There IS nothing better! Me and Sarah and her friend, Stephanie are going to KW the first weekend in May. I need a vacation. :stars: The south(east) side of Duval street is (mostly) the Gay/Lesbian side. There are some great art galleries over there, if you're into that kinda thing. :dunno2: Most of the bars are gay/lesbian, and the hotels are gay/lesbian friendly. Not sure what block is the gay neighborhood.... but, you'll know it when you see it. :baby: LMAO! So, yeah, try to be mindful of where your walking. It's not a bad neighborhood or anything, just don't want you to get harassed by Drag-Queens. :boxing: :naww:
Oh, and great meals can be had all over the Duval Strip.... (Just don't buy Conch Fritters from that old, haggard looking fella on Sunset Pier. He's the one with the "Help Me Feed My Cats" tip bucket. :bigwink: I can't BELIEVE tourists fall for that shit! LOL!) BUT, if you want a truly AWESOME meal, take the wife to dinner at either Louie's Back Yard, or Michael's. It's the best cuisine on the island. :beerchug: http://www.michaelskeywest.com/ http://www.louiesbackyard.com/
Wow pretty cool, when I was in High School I had to do a paper on JFK, wish I had talked to that guy. But I like your idea. If you ever consider cruising I have done my share and have some opinions on that. Two honeymoon cruises...long story! And a few with the kids. By the way I highly recommend it!
I'm heading to Key West right after the Miami SRT track experience. Last time I was there in 2007 I went solo and only stuck around for a few hours. Salute ristorante on the South side was pretty neat, nothing gay or lesbian for that matter about it. If you're looking to spend some time on the beach, from what I understand Key West isn't really good for it as there's crushed corral on the beach, but there's a lot of tourist activity on the island and on the water if you choose to go snorkeling, or visit the neighboring parks. The reason my friend and I are going to Key West after the SRT TE is of to go to Margaritaville... my friend is a hard core country fan (which is unusual for NJ I guess) and likes Jimmy Buffett's music. I've been to a Margaritaville in Las Vegas during SEMA and am looking forward to check out the one in Key West. Sloppy Joes is famous there too I believe. Have fun! --Russ
