"Hey guys, I've got a 98 1.8T. I've had a k04 and chip for a while and wanted to get more performance. I was recommended to port and polish the intake and exhaust. We found out they used abrasive material to do it like gritty sand. So I got with my friend that tunes Hondas and we decided to try it ourselves. We got a bag of sandblasting sand and hooked up into the intake and started the car. We had to hold the gas so it would run. He wanted to let the engine suck in the sand through the intake so it would port it out and then push it out the ehxaust so it would port the exhaust manifold.
I was worried that it might cause problems but he figured it'd be OK as long as we didn't make boost and it get sucked in the turbo. After running the car and letting it suck in sand we got about half way through a 25 lb bag. The check engine light was on and the engine was bucking and kicking and sounding really weird. We stopped and hooked the car back up normal and took off the sand supply. We tried to start it again and it was really hard. Once started it couldn't idle and kept making weird noises. We took it out and drove it and it started to make scraping and knocking noises.
Help! Can anyone tell me what to do! My buddy only does Hondas so he doesn't know much about Audis."

"Speaking of oil, do I really need to change my oil, or, can I just let it run dry and then add new oil?"

"Nope - that'll take too long. Run your oil return line from the turbo into the turbine housing itself, and blast it out the back of the car. You'll get it all outta there a lot faster. "

What’s so funny about moding an Audi? is it not ok to mod the car you have? What makes it ok to mod your car? Just because it says SRT? My truck is not an SRT and all i see when I see that badge is that you paid more money at the dealer? What’s wrong with moding a Honda? it may not be for me but hey at least they are moding the cars they have. As for the sand i feel bad for the kid because he is a dumb ass (if this thread is real) and so is his friend but what’s wrong with moding his car?

My only complaint about this site is how arrogant everyone is just because they have an SRT and not a "normal" edition car.

Settle down killer, I was speaking more to the glass pistons and paper mache block that audi's seem to come with.

    Ummmm Keith,

Nothing wrong with modding any vehicle. And when is everyone arrogant here about modding something other than an SRT?

Maybe I am blind, but I do not see that.

As for the thread that was posted, come on man, if someone is going to attempt to work on any vehicle, they should at least have common sense to NOT pore sand into their engine...

Hell, even the other Audi owners were making fun of them. lol

So, I would ask that you show me or anyone else has been so arrogant about their SRT's? Please. Maybe the better word is PRIDE, not Arrogance?? Dunno.

A true auto enthusiast will appreciate ALL cars and what the owners have done to them.

Making fun is not arrogance, rather a bit of stress relief. IMO
