I have a 2007 srt8 Magnum with a whobble around 80 and slow speeds. I know this has been talk about. But what is my best option as far as balacing. One more thing which is the best tire for my Magnum the stock tire are rough and noisy. I am new to the forum and would like to say hi and thanks for the help. I traded my 04 srt10 for the magnum and am very happy. But I wish I could have kept both.
It might not be the balancing job. Our wheels are overly senstive to being torqued properly. Try loosening up the wheel and then very gradually retorquing each lug in pattern up to value and see if that solves your issue first. OH ya, and welcome to the forum!.
You'll get a lot of feedback here about tires I have Nitto NT05's I really like htem so far Lots of people are running Toyo Proxy's they seem to like them Verdistines (spelled wrong im sure) are very popular here and from what I can tell are an excellent choice. What are you goals for the tire Ride comfort? Long tread life? Handling? Racing? Drag Racing?
1. Ride comfort 2. Handling 3. Long tread life In this order, I am going run the stock until they are worn or I cann't get rid of this whobble.
How much does price play into the decision? I can say you probably wont want the NT05's for tread life reasons... Dont know about the proxys' or Verds...not sure the tread rating on them... but just a quick search if those are your criteria shows these to be pretty good... Michelin Primacy MXV4 (roughly $245 each...via Tirerack search) 620AA Tread ware Rating Primacy MXV4 tires are Michelin's Grand Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the needs of coupes and sedans, as well as family minivans and crossover utility vehicles. Michelin Primacy MXV4 tires are designed to offer a quiet, comfortable ride, long tread life, responsive handling and all-season traction, including in light snow. Primacy MXV4 tires feature an all-season tread compound molded into a symmetric design that combines notched shoulders, independent intermediate tread blocks and continuous center ribs. Michelin's Active Sipes alternately lock together and open as needed to provide increased biting edges that grip the road to provide all-season handling, especially in rain and snow. Michelin's Advanced MaxTouch Construction results in a tuned footprint shape that allows for long-lasting, even treadwear while their Comfort Control Technology uses computer-optimized design and precision manufacturing to reduce vibrations and road noise to deliver a comfortable ride. The tire's internal structure includes twin steel belts reinforced with Michelin's BAZ Technology (spirally wrapped polyamide, Banded At Zero degrees) to reinforce the Primacy MXV4's twin steel belts and provide high-speed durability while it enhances ride comfort.
Oh I missed an answer. If retorquing doesn't work. Get them "road forced balanced". I suggest you look up Hunter tire balancing equipment and then search their network for a shop near you. http://www.hunter.com/PUB/product/balancer/index.htm
Took the car to get balanced and it seems much better. They two out of four were way out of balance. Thanks for the info. As far a tires I am looking at VERDS who has the best prices. Any good vendors on the forum.
Sorry for the 2nd post but these tires Vred's are garbage! go with toyo proxy4's best tire I have ever had, 20,000 hard miles and many track days doing burn outs like crazy. I got Vreds on friday hit the track 4 runs later here is what they look like with 300 miles on them. They are garbage tires!!! So if you drive hard don't get these tires!
