with the challenger drive train so similar i had 2 questions for you all.
    1. Is the 6.1 so well put together that you would jump off your msrt,3srt or csrt to the chally w/ the same engine?
    2. What is the reliability record for the 6.1?

Sold my sts v a few months ago and recently placed my Chall order and noticed many of you already have srt's

I dont know that I would necessarily change my Charger for the Challenger with the same engine setup...but as far as the motor goes...we have people in our forum with 30,000+ miles with no major complaints with the 6.1L powerplant...people here who are intrested in changing over are waiting for the 6.4L motor to come out with the 6 speed manual...

as for the car...i think you will enjoy it very much ...we all lover our SRT's more and more each day...so if you have any more questions just throw em out there!

as for people changing their cars, thats a tough question to ask...mainly because people buy cars for different reasons...I got my car because its a 4 door sedan with the 6.1...maggie owners have the utility of a magnum...and the 300 is more of a luxury muscle car...again...all 4 door cars...

the challenger is a 2 door coupe...but there will be a few Challengers here once they are out!

Hopefully i answered your questions!...lets see if anyone else has some input...

I love my Charger SRT8 and its 6.1 hemi. The stock Mustang GTs and Camaros can't compete with our cars; they need to be heavily modified to do so... The Challenger, being a two door, should be the lightest and fastest of all SRT8 vehicles. I'm sure you will love the car…

I'm waiting for the 6.4 challenger coming out in 2009, but I won't sell my Charger, I love my car too much, I'll just keep both...

this is all good to hear. the only adjustment i may decide on is waiting for the vert. any good info if/when they will produce the vert? if they build it only w/ the smaller disp engines i'll stay w/ my coupe order.

As far as "official" announcements...there has not been one to my knowledge...

but word on the street is that when the 6.4L/Manual comes out in 2009 (or maybe 2010 for the vert)...there will be a vert option...

    Dave,

First off, Welcome to the "C". :good:

I would never trade out my Charger. EVER...

We will be adding a Challenger to our stable though.

The 6.1L power plant is actually a very reliable engine. With any first Gen concepts there are faults, but I must say, the faults that arose were very minor.

Chrysler SRT Engineers (Ralph Gilles) did one HELLOFA job on this platform and I can not wait to see what they come out with next.

I've had the 6.1L powerplant longer than anyone in the world.

In the three years I've had it, I drove it year round, put about 37,000 miles on it, threw 175 HP shot of nitrous on it, did a 1/4 mill on STREET tires in 11.89 seconds (drag radial dropped that to 11.75), and still drive it to work every day of my life.

    Not a problem yet.

After participating on the forums since before the 6.1L came out, I've watched virtually every internet documented failure. Very early on, a couple of valve springs failed. Beyond that, there's virtually been no major systemic problems.

The 6.1L Hemi is one of the most rock-solid platforms I've ever known.
