Today I had a solocross event and I got one video before the camera took a crap. Actually, I think the SD card is the problem. Anyway, I placed 3rd. in my class and had the fastest "american car" of the day. The first lap was a warm up lap and the rest were timed. I set the tire pressure cold but today they never got up to my target pressure and I didn't have my normal grip level. This video is of the first heat. The second heat it was raning and the camera didn't record. The third heat I didn't even try to record. A good excuse to buy a better camera!

Looks nice and stable, but why the cones every 1/4 mile?

The cones and drums are to make the course more difficult and uncomfortable to drive. Every event is different with the position of the drums and cones. Sometimes we run clockwise and other times counter clockwise. The cars that handle the best are always faster than the cars with big power. Fastest overall time went to an Ariel Atom, then an EVO, Mazda Miata turbo, 4 styrofoam Hondas and Toyota MR2. The little cars get through the obstacles quick. I was faster than all the VW's, BMW's etc. I've got to improve through the drums as a driver.

I agree, a big car with big power has noting on that course, and to beat an Ariel Atom you have to use a singleseater, cause thats what it is...

That last lap looked fast. but... yikes, you miss ANYTHING on that course and you're going to have a dent.

You mean like this? This was one of those pesky Honda's that rocket around the course and every now and then into the concrete.

I think your driving looked stable, pretty much the same lines and keeping the car nicely under control.:good:

Oh, your talking about this. It happens from time to time. So far I've suffered no damage that couldn't be buffed out.

Haha, it's always hard to tell from the camera... never know that if you were riding shotgun you might have had your finger nails dug in the dash while screaming uncontrollably.

I have to agree with you. Unless the camera is inside and you can really hear the car, tires and cussing ..... But my goal was to apply the lessons of the PCA driving school I attended recently. I admit I forgot a lot in the heat of the competition.

That would probably be the case anyway, I hate riding shotgun, comes from way to many miles behind the wheel and to many laps on roadcourses.
Nevertheless the camera was in the same position coming into the corners on pretty much every lap!
Maybe I´ll try the Maggie on a roadcourse one day, but I have the distinct feeling it would end up in a drifting orgie...
It wheighs about a ton to much!
I AM thinking about getting a BMW E39 M5 (They´re getting very cheap here) and stripping it out, fit a rollcage and a proper seat.
Get rid of 500 kilos and just fit good tires and brakepads, should be sufficient!
