Hey Guys,I originally bought my Jeep to use for work and Im ready to start using it in the next few weeks. In my line of work I drive on dirt roads and up mountains. Other than the nose on the front end, my Jeep probably has about the same ground clearance as my Ridgeline did. I want to put on a set of all terrain tires, well I have zero options as far as using the 20s.Actually Ihave thought about using Proxies but Im sure in a couple weeks I will have chunks missing from the garvel/dirt roads. Can somebody refer me to a link or something that will tell me what the smallest rim is that will clear the Brembos. If I can fit a 18, I think I can find a set of tires that would be better for my needs. Thanks BTW- I did a couple of searches and came up flat, things change over time and I figured some of you veteran SRT8 owners might have better insight.
I think the selection for an 18 inch is pretty slim....it all depends on how the wheel is made and the offset. You will probably get away with most 19s but you may have to run spacers on the fronts...no big deal if they are done right. Never done anything with smaller wheels, but have seen numerous guys try and deal with it from the beginning. It was a nightmare for most....
Thanks Dustin, A nightmare I dont want but Im still looking at all options. Somedays I drive over 200 miles@ 60-70MPH on a gravel road, now in the Jeep I wont drive that fast but will be on gravel roads none the less. I guess a couple pair of Proxies a year is still cheaper than both rims and tires, I just dont think proxies are going to be worth a crap in mud.
I like my Proxes, I am sure they wouldnt be to great in mud, but they cant be horrible I guess. I go offroad once in a while, and have never even got remotely close to getting stuck.....I had them on all winter as well, they are definitely not a snow tire, but I made it just fine... I guess you could always bolt a big fancy winch on the front!
Why dont you put some 20" Cooper Zeon LTZ's on the stock wheels. That would look sick:hypno: Here's the Coopers Go for this kinda look.
If you done mind a higher sidewall, Pirelli Scorpion ATR's come in 20 inch sizes http://www.us.pirelli.com/web/car-s...ucts/scorpion-atr/technical-info/default.page So do Nitto Dune Grapplers http://nittotire.com/#index.tire.duragrappler.sizes
