I am looking for a place to mount my single A/F Ratio gauge and can't really decide what would look best. (Innovative LC-1) I am leaning toward a mount near my rearview mirror and would probably have to fab a tricky little mount. Anyone have any pics of their neat installs?
Right on JMatt! Did you build the plate the gauges are sitting in and how does the plate attach to the sunglasses holder (if at all)?
The plate was custom fit, and it's just stuck in there with a friction fit. And yes - the sunglass holder can completely close. When I'm done with it and remove it someday, it's almost impossible to see where anything was cut. (hole in side up above the mechanism to let the wires through)
Holy crap!!! That's just awesome! I would have never thought of that. Only thing I ever put up there was a small wad of hundreds for just in case... that came pretty often and then the kids saw me get them once and that was the end of that spot. Do you need to get a low profile gauge or will any standard depth gauge fit in there?
Can't fit a big fat gauge in there, but the innovate wideband AFR gauge fits (it's the one on the left - and I think the exact one the poster was asking about). Also, the dynotunenitrous.com round gauges fit. (on the right). They're about an inch deep behind the bezel. That's about the fattest that will fit.
That is indeed the one...nice and thin. I am still looking for a real light single gauge mount I can modify to slide under the headliner somewhere and attach. I once saw someone post pics of the headliner pulled down and remember seeing at least one decent place to attach a small mount. Thanks for the responses!
Yes - up the A pillar - across the headliner. Overhead console is a frictio nfit, and you can pull the whole unit out. Drill an appropriately hidden hole, and run the wire into the overhead console.
The A-pillar pulls away about an inch. Then theres a tab toward the top. You reach in and pinch the tab closed, and the whole A-pillar will just pull off. The headliner is actually open at the front edge - just run the wires across by hand. No removal necessary. The overhead consol just pulls down. The trickiest part is disengaging the wiring clips that work the garage door openers and overhead lights. Beyond that, it's a breeze.
