Hi - did anybody encounter the passenger Air bag deactivation light goes on everytime I start the car and remains on with or without a passenger - The red light with the little guy with seatbeat stays on - about a month ago some guy slightly bump me from behind then a couple days laters the light comes on all the time.
Might need to be recalibrated? The passenger seat has a weight sensor. It's for kids. If it detects weight in the seat, but not enough weight, it deactivates the passenger air bag. I've heard some people say that they had to have their's recalibrated (I think...).
Mine has also been on for many months. I took mine to the dealer and they told me, I have a bad module in the dash and cost $300 to repair. My light is gonna stay on ~ LOL
Mine comes on if I have bags in the front seat, but otherwise stays off. It does sound like maybe something some where needs to be wiggled back into place or yeah, recalibration.
Thanks all for your response - I did take it to the dealer and it was recalibrated - it lasted 2 weeks - they did it for a freebie but I'm afraid they will charge - or well it will stay on LOL !!!
No problem with the light on when there's no one there, but you would want to make sure that the airbag is enabled when someone (full sized) is sitting in it. ...on the other hand, "I'm sorry honey, the air bag isn't working properly so you'll have to sit in the back".
Without going to the dealer - what do I look for under the seat to wiggle around hoping it resets or something?
That I don't know... Don't know if it's under the seat or inside the bottom cushion or if there's a plug that might have come loose or not.
Here is the intro. It's not simple and any sort of calibration or configuration has to be done with a StarScan. The thing knows how big you are AND how far away from the air bags you're sitting...
