I have always taken the charger to the stealership to have the oil changed. Costs me over $100. It's about time for my next service and I am wanting to do it myself now. So the question is what oil are you using? I know the dealership was using a high performance mobile 1 product but I am unsure of which one. Also...any difference in the oil filter brands??

    Thanks

Dealer was probably using 0W40 Mobil1. I read somewhere that Chrysler was recommending Pennzoil 5W40 European full synthetic. I'm using Amsoil 5W40 European full synthetic and a K&N 3001 oil filter. Will be using a WIX 51515R on my next change. These both hold about 1/2 quart more than the stock filter. I also use a couple of bottles of ZDDPlus, which I picked up from Lou. I have an oil cooler also now. My setup holds a little over 8 quarts, so this works out just about perfect.

Make sure it's full synthetic of course, I'm using stock Mobil 1 0w-40, it's pretty good. I know a lot of guys have a lot of different opinions on type and weight of oil so that's all I'm gonna say about that.

One thing, when you add the new oil do it SLOWLY, our cars have an issue where if you add it too quickly oil can "burp" back out into the breather tube and end up in your air intake by the filter. Not a lot but some, I've heard bout this happening. Otherwise I'm like you, I'm not paying the dealer to do it anymore, not worth it.
