For all those who have enjoyed following the build I started a year ago I am starting a new thread. BMC and I have parted ways and I am continuing this project with Mike and Todd from Mr. Norms Garage located about 30 minutes from my home. I met Mike and Todd when I was searching for an 8 rib pulley setup for my project. I was immediately impressed with their knowledge, the time they spend discussing our cars with me, the beautiful work that was going on all around me, and the entire operation in general. In a subsequent visit I took my 84 year old mom to see the cars. Even she was impressed. Todd said she'd look good in a '49 merc. Who wouldn't. I liked him instantly!! They do some seriously fine work and seem to enjoy and have fun doing it. My kind of shop. I look forward to posting here once we start putting this build back together. The new whipple 2.9L fresh from Yella Terra in Australia should be an interesting componet considering Mr. Norms Garage does a lot of Kenny Bell installs. I sure hope they like my car !! I'm intimidated (only a little) by all the fine cars they work on. So stay tuned and I'll post here soon!! Thanks for all the forum and vendor support I've been fortunate to receive and also for the great things BMC did to make this project what it is. Now we push the envelope a little bit more!!!
opcorn: And please have the guys from Mr Norms stop by. Would love to see some of their work. Especially the Merc (in my top 5 favorites).
Wow...i can see the confidence ooozing, i cannot wait to see final product. Congrats Jim on your new year.
Watched under the BMC section and now look forward to seeing it complete! I would think you are good hands with these guy's!
look forward to seeing the car be taken to the next level jim!!! make sure and post a ton of pics and stories for us to follow!!!
Right now collecting all the bits and pieces and having my car hauled to Mr. Norms in a week or two. Then will sit done with Mike and Todd and TALK. Then we can better answer timeframe questions. I would like to be able to drive cross country to SoCal's Spring Fling in late March if possible. And maybe Bradenton in February - but will have to see. Happy New Year - its almost here!!!
No race car is ever done. Get it ready and have some fun in February. I guarantee you'll feel better then. You can always do upgrades later. I'm sure you bought your car to have fun with...well then have some fun already. You've spent enough time and money already, time to enjoy it. Hope to kick your ass in February
Jim, that would be AWESOME if you made it out to Spring Festival. I will buy the first round. :usflag:
You'll have to wait till next year to kick my a** if you do!!! I would love to make SF out in Cali. and meet some forum members in real life. Probably even get my A** kicked more than a few times!!!! A long drive but I have it in me!!! And X2 on the Happy New Year!!!
