Just got a new iMac. Friggin' love this thing thus far. Other than Dave, who told me about Mac's, what else does anyone know about them? Virus/spyware protection, etc. I was told by many folks that they are sort of immune to much of it and at the least there are alot fewer viruses, etc. out there for Macs.

BTW: the graphics on this thing KILL my PC... outright KILL it. This thing makes it actually enjoyable just to stare at the screen. Its that crisp!

I have never been a Mac fan, but ALL of the reviews I have been hearing, I just might need to get in on this Imac rave.

Jason...the first thing I did when I got my Mac was go to Otay Ranch Apple store and sign up for there Mac Intro session. It's free, took about an hour, and helped me out with all the Macisms that really make this computer fun!

I wasn't a Mac fan until I got one (work issued). This thing is incredible. You need to see the C on a Mac. It's a whole new site on it (incredible).

The last virus written for Macs was back in 1986. :D
A/V software is not necessary. There's plenty of built-in stuff, including an excellent firewall (System Prefs-->Sharing-->Firewall tab). Make sure it's ON, and you're good to go.

Skip using Safari as a browser. It's big and clunky and kind of a system hog.
Get Firefox and be much happier.

All Mac stuff is designed thinking you're a 6 yr. old.
Prepare for LOTS of "help", sometimes when you don't need (or want) it.

Congrats, and let me know if you need any help.

anti-virus is not needed on PCs either. Just for jackasses that don't watch where they step LOL

First it was the iPhone for me, then iTouch for Katelynn, MacBook for me, then iTouch for my mom... Fuckin hell Apple has their shit together.

Lulz...I got my wife an ipod last year for christmas.....And her truck has a plug-in for it.

But I doubt I'll ever get a Mac. I enjoy the upgrades of a PC. I can easily make my PC (or any one) run circles around the Mac.

Rick, talked w/you about an hour ago... will do the tutorial! Excellent idea!

Also, the "C" on a new Mac is THE SCHIZNIT! You guys HAVE to see it... even if you go to an store just to get to the site. Seriously.

Thanks for the firewall advice. Will do!

Safari, I haven't had an issue yet, but will go to Firefox as well. Thanks again!

When it comes to computers, I'm basically a 6 year old, so this is a good thing!

Once again, I'm like a 6 year old on a computer... protection needed! LMAO!

When you gonna hop outta the closet?

My iPhone got me going too. Neighbor got one then showed me it... had an iPhone within 2 days.

I have yet to plug/sync my iPhone with the iMac... but I heard it is PHENOMINAL... all of Apple's stuff is built intuitively, to work together using the same systems... seemlessness.

WOW another couple Mac lovers here!! I got the new Macbook a couple of weeks ago, and LOVE it. I've had an iPhone since they came out, and everything sync's so well together to stay up to date while away from my desk.

I have a Mac from the mid-80's (still have it and the original box, ha ha) and have a iBook from several years ago, so I've been a Mac fan for as long as I've been able to type. I should have never, ever bought a PC as I've blown up about 5 laptops in a short period of time, LOL.

    MAC FTW!!!!

I resonded before... there ARE some Trojans, but no self-spreading/replicating viruses... clear as mud! I checked on the Apple Help forums (on Apple's website).

Downloading that file is in my future, however! Thanks!

    Almost 40 Mac already
Can't tell you how superior is it
Still I regret MAC OS 7.5 was so cool at that Time.

hardware is the same... so lets get it on... What are we benchmarkings against? Graphics, Application, Gaming, Number crunching?

Are we doing it on a windows to windows basis or windows vs. X

My career has been built around PCs, mind you. I will take out my Macbook any day against any PC you gots.

The only problem I've had with my Mac's is with Microsoft Word. The last good version was Word 5 for Mac, at least if you ask me. In 18 years using only Mac computers I've never had a computer virus or other form of mischief perpetuated against my computers. It's possible, with the growing sales, that Macs will become a target in the future. But for now, I feel inoculated and safe.

    Screw all that.
Benchmark against hooking up a wireless printer.

My PC thinks my printer is trying to hack into it.
I can't imagine the trouble I'd be in if I'd "upgraded" to Vista.
Thankfully, the printer stand has wheels so I can just push it over to the PC and USB it.

    Oh, it's already been brought-un

    I think I struck a nerve here....Sorry mang.

WTF?? We had a wireless LAN set-up in the workcenter on my last deployment. We played a shit-ton of half-life and rainbow six in our off time. Never had any troubles getting the laptops to sync up. maybe your printer is cursed??

"PC load letter?? What the fuck does that mean?"

The Mac v.s. PC argument is as epic as the PS3 v.s. 360 argument. Both have their pro's and cons, and nobody can convince the other party that their machine is superior.
