Well... the NavTech updates come out once a year. You can get them through your dealer and I think directly from Navtech. I think they went from $149 to $199 a year or two ago. As far as I know, they have only been map updates with no changes to the software.
I think the latest Nav disc version is: AH (Mar. 2009) A few of the older versions can be found on P2P services, but.....like anything from those....they're sketchy at best (with zero warranty). I'm still trying to get rid of the "gotta be stopped to enter nav info" safety in my RB1. You're not a passenger in my ride; you're the navigator.
200 BUCKS!!!!!?!?!?!?!?! Holy crap. My house is in a place that is fairly new and my current NAV disc doesn't have it in the map. That's the reason I ask. I can't set a "Home". But for 200 bucks, I think I'll live with it. If you figure out a way to get rid of that little "gotta be stopped" feature, I want to know about it.
People have hacked a few of the previous versions and there are "patches" available for that. I expect that will be taken care of on the new release soon. One thing is that you always have to "upgrade". The unit will not update the firmware from an older version. For the hacks/patches you rip the dvd, apply the patch and burn a new dvd. The patch disables the stopped stuff and it bumps the version#. Then the unit will upgrade from the new dvd. Just mentioning that so you won't bother trying an older hacked version than what you have in there now.
The dealer i bought my car from, is to locate my NAV disc:yawn:. I would rather just buy the latest update with the in motion feature. which member sells these? Thanks
