Your knock sensor may have been on, but you don't know how low the sensitivity was set. We've seen some tunes where the knock sensors didn't pull timing until over 200 degrees...but the car had a 170 thermostat in it. So while technically they were still on, they weren't working.
I don´t have a clue of to why that happend, but it hurts to see... Good luck and may this never happen again, ever! Fredrik
