ok, i'm almost done with my cosmetic mods, just a few more pcs left and maybe something else may come up down the road. i want to start focusing on performance upgrades. i need to know whats the best way to start. i don't want to buy everything at once, so if someone could list parts needed in order, that would work. i currently have gsm cai, 3" magnaflow catback and cats and that's it. so where should i go from here. i'm not interested in longtubes. thanks!
Predator should be step numero uno! you'll see lots of gains in lots of areas. beyond that, the only thing thats left would be heads/cam or perhaps a stroker or an i-charger.....yes, get the i-charger and do a writeup on it for us!
Markus is right I spent 2 hours yesterday out on my testing ground and finally got all but 2 degrees KR removed from every RPM and the Jeep runs so much smoother now so the Diablo Predator is nice to have. I kept the 2 degrees in because here in a few weeks its going to get alot warmer so I'm leaving a little in and will datalog again when temps are in the 90's
theres other mods you can do that wont necessarily add horsepower but will help you get more horsepower to your wheels such as a torque converter (around $500) and lower temperature thermostat (under $20) and even a .25 fan mod...(.25) then theres other things like sway bars, strut towers, kw suspensions or if you wanted a totally custom suspension, get a set of JMatt's. his are what helped him get into the 10's. halfshafts are expensive but almost a necessity if you plan on getting drag radials, as the factory ones will snap like toothpicks.
Great advice here already. Thermostat is quick, cheap and easy. The Predator should be high on the list. It'll help your car now, and is the ticket to tuning whatever you do next. I'm partial to nitrous, and a basic system is inexpensive, simple, safe and HOLY #$%^ effective. EDIT: No - my system does not qualify as either inexpensive, simple or safe. But the HOLY #$%^ part it's got nailed!
Yea, great advise already. The tstat will help keep heat soak down and the torque converter will get you launched faster. For adding power the Pred should be your first stop along with getting a custom tune. After that you could go the heads/cam route with porting and polishing (extrude hone the intake too) and then there's the big power adders like N2O and Supercharging. Have fun!!
