actually the opener is only 7 years old, as is the house. my sensors were in such a place that they went under the bumper, but behind the tires. they did not pick up anything. i was BARELY not far enough in the garage. only because i had people over at the house and all of the in and out of walking in the garage from the house made me park a little further back than normal. i knew the car was not all the way in, just never imagined anyone hitting the button to close it!!!!

hey tool boy, all great ideas, but read my above response!!!! :bigwink:

oh btw, i never like the tennis ball thing....... as much stuff as i do in the garage, i would be getting things tangled in any thing hanging off of the cieling!!! i have such a tight fit from nose to tail in my garage that i am considering some of the rubber floor bumps to help. as it is, i have to check the rear end of the car every time i pull in to make sure it clears!!!

    good idea!!!

trust me larry, i usually check every night!!!! i have always been more worried about hitting the cabinets in the garage than not being far enough in!!! this just happened to be a fluke........ that my teenage son actually was trying to be nice and close the door for me!!!! argh!!!

i like this idea even better!!!!

Ouch Chris, sorry to see this buddy. I feel your pain, had the same thing happen to my car last summer, although I did it MYSELF (I swear I was in far enough, lol!). Anyway, don't know what you're planning on doing but I'd recommend repainting. I had both a top notch body shop and detail shop take cracks at my bumper and they did a good job buffing and wet sanding it out BUT ... you can still see it and always will. In my case it's not that bad so I let it go but in your case knowing you're just as anal as me and how SWEET your car is I'd repaint. IMO it's the only way you'll be happy, especially with black. Again, sorry to see this bro.

that sucks!! sorry to hear, and remember it could have been worse.
3 years ago someone did a hit and run on my car while it was parked.
some drunk guy couldn't park his truck i guess.

Wow dude I know how painful the garage doors can be, I was detailing my car a few years back and had the hatch up , wife pulled in the drive way in front, SO i figured id finish up in the garage, well i backed up with the hatch up BANG, I was so mad i had to take a walk, But it did buff right out, GL with the buffing bro. Glad you stayed cool with the little one.
