Everyone's got their thing. I used to think it was silly until I lived here for a while, and trust me, there are HUGE differences between the parts of California. Growing up in TN it was Middle TN, East TN and West TN. California could be its own country, hell its got a bigger economy than a lot of countries. Mixing up NorCal, CenCal and SoCal is like saying all SEC teams are the same or all BBQ is the same.

True, but it's true for any state, city or parish/county in the US. Even distric to district around here are hella different in people, culture, and accents.
It's really not just a California phenomenon. It's a large country, with tons of great places to live, it seems as though California based peeps seem to forget that and think..."doesn't everyone live here"

I dunno, just seems arrogant and silly. But hey, consider the source.

I remember a few years ago that if California was a nation, it would have the 8th largest economy in the world.

Okay, so we're having a back and forth about silliness. Honestly it seems like most people assume everyone is just like them or agrees with them at least until they actually pick up stakes and move some place else. I spent my first 25 years living elsewhere, so I do not think California is the center of the universe. Still, having lived here nearly ten years, I can see how its easy to see it that way if you've lived here your entire life, considering everything you could ever need in life is at most a few hours drive away. That and the weather is MUCH nicer year round, the food's good, even the crappy food, and its like its own universe from the culture, the architecture, the plant life, the seasons, the car culture, everything. As much as I can't stand the politics, and the roads and infrastructure suck, there's still a lot here that makes it hard for me to consider the idea of living anywhere else.

I meant the new Orleans having 345k....that may be people that actually live within the city limits. People that live "in" new Orleans actually live near it. Same in baton rouge and Shreveport. What we call n.o. Is actually a much bigger area than that of inner city. And that would cover about 2 million people. BR about a third of that.

It really doesnt matter, I was just thinking outloud more than anything. It's all good, call it
whatever makes u feel good. ;)

Just messing with you Kyle. Metro areas are a whole different thing than city limits.

You're missing the whole reason Kyle. The distinction is made because the people in SoCal are soooo friggin wierd they might as well be from a different planet. oh, yea, and Ron will fit right in there :)

    Congrats Ron!

considering i spent my entire adult life in the state of california up until 2001, i agree 100% with your comments.......... except the living elsewhere part. lol

it is easy to forget that life in cali is not "normal"..... one thing i learned quickly when i left. i will say, outside of all the politics, it is a great place to live...... i do miss the norcal area.
