So I have been getting some error codes on my Innovate LC-1 Wide Band and Tuesday I finally ordered up a new O2 Sensor. Bought it direct from Innovate's website. So today, the O2 sensor arrives (a full day early mind you), so to keep myself busy and my mind off of my dog, I decided I would install the O2... Well, I get the car up on jack stands and begin to unplug the sensor from the LC-1 controller. What do I find? The LC-1 plug was melted around the sensor plug. haha Yea, it gets worse... I also noticed that the LC-1 main body was bad and the plug receptical actually broke off the LC-1. WTF??? after looking at this for some time, I realized that this has been this way for a fairly long time. Ugh! So anyway, I am now on Innovates home page again looking for just the LC-1 controller, but can not find it. They have the kit with the LC-1 and Sensor for $199 and of course the sensor only for $75. So I call Innovate and get Felipe, the sales guy. I ask him if they sell just the LC-1. Felipe says yes they do. Part number 3477. haha I ask him the price. The LC-1 alone is $150. I then say wow, looks like I should have bought the LC-1/sensor kit? Felipe said yea, it would have been cheaper. haha So I am about to purchase the LC-1 when Felipe says he will discount the item to give me the savings since I had bought the sensor earlier this week. I was shocked and speachless.. haha Then Felipe went a step farther and waived the shipping fee's. WOW!!! So, I will have the new LC-1 next week Tuesday. This company is AWESOME. Thanks Innovate for having a very good sales person in Felipe.
Mine has performed flawlessly so far Ron. Did it lay against the exhaust at some point or what melted it?
that's the weird thing, Jon, it is mounted just under the wiper motor. Now way for any heat to melt it. Only thing I can think of is the power wire was over heated and melted the plug casing. Once I get it out next week, I will post up some pics.
Ya, please post up pics...that is exactly what I was wondering. The first time I ever looked at my controller installed was last week at SVS when we needed to unplug the sensor to drop my exhaust...looked ok, but I wasn't looking for a meltdown Weird
You should ask Innovate about that. If that's the case and it's the same unit then it's probably going to happen again. I'll bet they have run into this a lot. Maybe something to do with the length of wire or gauge of the wire?
