Thought you guys might like to see what a buddy of mine is working on.... http://picasaweb.google.com/GLHS589/HEMI_STRATUS Jersey
If I remember correctly, the car was originally built to run NHRA Pro Import series but when that series folded, he was left with a car and no series to race. After selling off a SERIOUS TT V6 setup, the car was just waiting for a new driveline so he decided to drop a 6.1L Hemi in. Right now it's basically a stock crate motor (other then the dry sump and a few other small tweaks) but the plan is a fully built bullet by next season. This year will be used for a learning curve, gradual improvements and tweaking. The car is setup for either a 727 or a NAG and he really wants to run a NAG if possible. All engine/TCM electronics will be handled by factory controllers, just because people say it cannot be done There are contingency plans if that falls through but I"m pretty sure he can make it work. Maybe he will chime in an give some more details... J
Let him get it up and running first! He's still a working schmuk like the rest of us! Besides, we all know there is a replacement for displacement.... J
Mor details from the owner.... The Car was first built for the NHRA Sport Compact Series. Things took way longer and way more money than expected. The series as we know it today is going down hill and not worth investing to have 3 $70K engines in rotation, a crew, transportation, ect... The twin turbo V-6 was killer. Made really crazy power. Then was going to do a V8 twin turbo but again green, lack of interest, and too much to switch over and beef up. I want to race. I also develop things. The new hemi was the way to go for sure. Super gas is where I want to run for now then hopefully build a twin turbo version of the 6.1 to make some real power. I figure this combo should go 9.40 or so which should get me started and be easy on parts and me. It is set up for a nag or a 727. I am just trying to get my hands on a Nag to build as it is tough for me because chrysler has a reman program going so no cores are to spare at the moment. I also want to finish getting the trans-brake sorted out because it will be tricky to foot brake at such a high RPM to hit a 33.5 inch tire. Factory ECU is the key for me. Shouldn't be a problem as the P/T cruiser I just built for a friend of mine ran 12.12@115 on stock electronics. I really needed a test bed to work the ecu stuff out and I think I have it. We shall see J
