The video comes from the following link: http://g8gt.com/t3486/ stock 13.39 @ 104 Tuned 13.10 @ 107 100 shot 12.49 @ 113 12.60 pass spraying it in 2nd . These definately will be something to be dealt with. The aftermarket is already "ready" for these cars... Keith
I'm not knocking the car because I have not seen one in person but IMO they only look good from the front, but do put up some good numbers. Pontiac & GM has nothing on styling compared to Chrysler until you get up to the ZO6 Vette, but then there is the Viper. Just my 2 cents. Oh and did I mention........I can't wait to run one on some shitty airport asphault to see how quick it really is, I love friendly competition.
I was talking to my wife about the G8. I was giving it props for it's performance. I also told her that I'd consider getting one if Dodge didn't have the Charger SRT8. She said, "Why? It looks like a Grand Am in the front and a Cavalier in the back." It is still bada$$ if you ask me. Will I trade my SRT8, no? Keith
Looks like one that is comparable to my Charger SRT8 with options #1 and #2...for around $32k as compared to my $40k. The standard sedan version is only $2.5k less. It looks like they may not have upgraded the rest of the car (suspension and brakes) to handle the extra power over the 3.5 liter V6. What I don't see on the GT... -dual climate -radio controls on steering wheel -special 20" wheels -extra suspension (over the std version) -extra brake (over the std version) Something think about...I don't think they paid as much attention to detail as the SRT team to make it a total package. It might do well on the dragstrip. But take it to a road coarse and run it with an SRT8...see what happens then. It may do well, but I'd be surprised. It doesn't look like GM was thinking of that...they just wanted to get the raw straight line power. Keith
As a Gto owner I have followed the G8 from the begining . They chose the uplevel sus. for the standared an GT .The GXP will be tweeked an bigger brakes ,lowered etc.The manual trans an tuned the oversees Holdens are running mid 4's to 60 an low 12.3/12.6 inthe 1/4. From what I have seen its not the" Big " power ,its the trac an trans . Guest the flash on auto tranny nocks 2-3 tenths of the times . Not a bad trick. As you may notice I follow GM but love all muscule cars:dribble:
Interesting price?...........I think it is very similar to when Chevy was saying the TBSS was a cheaper alternative to the SRT. I drove one and it was O.K. but definitely not like the jeep, so I scarfed up the extra $10,000 for the Cherokee because I knew I would not be happy with the TBSS no matter what I did to it. I guess it all comes down to budget. It is nice as stated above to have good American muscle on the street. I really do believe it when I went to the SRT track experience when we were told by Kyle Petty at the beginning of the day (via DVD) that you are basically driving an everyday race car and after the track experience I believed him 100%. More often than not you get what you pay for. Good find Keith, Kayce :thumb3:
I agree the tbss was out dated before it even came to market . The "cheese "factor of the interior was :stars:.
They are already sprinkling info and pics about the GXP with over 400 hp, upgraded suspension, etc. This one will be the one to deal with. Chrysler will simply need to step up with HP if nothing else. By the way, the G8 is supposed to come with a "very sturdy" rear and LSD on all V8s. I got my eye on the CTS-V because starting out with 550hp - and knowng the Vette makes 620 with the same engine means it's a nice starting point to make some real horsepower.
Yeah, the GXP's gonna be a smoker...shame is looks so Grand Am-ish. It might have been nice to see a wagon version too...but I'm biased
