Full Manual Valve Body

    I would like to know how many of you know what that is ???

    Have you ever rode in or driven a vehicle that has one ???

    What are your thoughts on them ??

    My wifes car (700 RWHp Mustang) has a Full manual valve body AODE it is awesome! Basically it is an Auto that shifts like a manual..ie you have to shift as it ill not shift on its own.

    My "69 Dodge Dart Street Machine (440 6pack) had a Fairbanks Torqueflite 727 "Competition" automatic that had a full manual valve body that was reversed....so you shifted away from neutral. It was strong and wicked and yes....manual means you have to shift. However mine did have the ability to "kickdown" downshift when you hit full throttle, but you had to make the next upshift.....wicked response

    Had a reverse manual way back when........and a full manual clutch Turbo400 in an old Camaro.......anyone remember those?

    I have a manual valve body in my '73 Cuda w/ 383 and 727. The shifts are more firm. Also, it allows me to do the burn-out in 2nd gear. I chose to do the forward pattern (stock) so I could still use the factory T-handle shifter.

    I guess it depends on what type of vehicle you are going to put it in. Daily driver = no. W/E Warrior or car you take to the track = yes.

    I had a full manual valve body on a TH350 transmission I rebuilt myself.

    With today's electronic controls though, it's really no diferent than how the original SRT-8's came from the factory with their manual shifting program. Car would hold the gear - even as it bounced off the rev-limiter. Shift firmnes is controlled by line pressure and clutch packs, not by the actual manual control. Of course any old transmission that was converted to a manual valve body also had everything else upgraded so shifts were as firm as possible.

    Yes, I had one in '62 Chevy II built by Art Carr, with a 5,000 stall, 8" converter.

    65 Belvedere Satelitte II 426 street wedge. Had a Stage III in it. Took off the intake and carbs, put on a Edlebrock hi-rise with a 800 double pumper.
    Reverse valve body, manual shift, 8" 5000 stall converter. General Kinetics cam, Hooker headers, 4.56, etc. Fenton cookie cutters off of Bill Stepp's pro stocker. Do no ever attempt this on the street, I did. LOL

    I was wondering cause I had one put in the Mini Van's tranny and man does that thing hit hard. I love it so far. Just takes some time to get used to shifting all the time.

    Matt, do not knock Chuck's minivan or the other mopar sleepers he has... lol

    I had the pleasure of taking a ride in one and all I can say is... WOW, what a blast.

    My mouse motor had a Edlebrock dual quad tunnel with a pair of Holly 660 center squirter's, 590 lift Crowler with a 290 duration. 514 gears in the rear, Henry spool, and Summer axles.

    Those were the days. If we could only do these mods to our Chargers now.

    Way back when....
    Your aging me....
    I really wanted a "ClutchFlite", a special built Torqueflite 727 automatic with clutch, in my '69 Dart.
    Anyone remember those? Clutch for launch off the line and then no more dlutch needed for shifts. Best of both worlds....wicked tranny.

    :eek:fftopic:lol,Ken I had the same set up in my 63 Nova Had a 406 in it.Used a Heights front end.that got rid of the shock towers.Oh with a small shot of N20 as well..Need to trade pics some time..Cherry sorry for the high jack but sounds like your tranny is working

    I am trying to build one of the Best Sleepers EVER.
    I need the positive feeling of NOT missing a gear exchange Ever.
    By installing the RFMVB I believe I have succeded.

    Just remember guys I have two more Mini Vans that are Turbo-Charged
