Just one more *WARNING* Do not deal with KRC! Marty had my 392 Stroker for almost two years! I could have bought two 6.1 Strokers for what I was charged, two blown motors later, I had too sell vehicle, come to find out, he never even installed the coated pistons he charged me for! couldn't trust rest of build sheet? Don't even think of it! Tony at Shippan Motors in Stamford, CT has a unbelievable turn around for any install you may need, he will be installing my Inertia 426 Stroker in 3.5 weeks! He installed my Cam, Heads and trq Cnvrtr in 2 days, Nice!
I wish we had an archive... The story, with the details, is much better than that (StarTrek reruns are coming to mind... It was kind of like Scotty sent Captain Kirk and Bones out with a temporary setup. "It doesn't seem to be runing right, let's hook up the laptop" "Those readings look right to you? Not sure what they're supposed to be but they don't look right to me." "Dammit James, Scotty said not to touch anything" "Yea, but he's not going to get to it for a couple of days and I need MORE POWER". "We'll just tweak this knob a little bit and see if it gets better"....
Yea sounds like I def am dodging a bullet by avoiding KRC. Thanks to all for the heads up, and for all the help and advice!
Welp you got some great advice already. But I'll add in my $.02. If you want something that you can toss some boost at and last a looooooong time. Contact HHP or Inertia and have then build you a forged 6.1 at the stock compression. Your looking at around $3500 for the short block. Stay away from the low compression, you don't need it regardless of what Josh tells you . Then you can go 8-9 PSI, get yourself around 600 at the wheels and when to really step it, drop in a tranny and bump the boost. BTW, I'll echo the Marty stuff, stay clear. ALSO, get hemi31 to do the install. He's a wealth of information, a great wrench and it'll get you in the "in crowd".........hahahahahahaha
That actually sounds the most like what I am aiming at here. I want to safely be able to run 8-9 psi, and since I do not track/strip the car, 600 at the wheels is plenty (actually was my goal when I decided I wanted to go through with this undertaking). The $ adds up so quick! With that much power my transmission will be pretty stressed, and I'll likely need new axles....
Cam gives sound advise, but he forgot another great vendor in CMW. And yea, low compression is not needed. My 426 (as is Hal's) is running a 10.3:1 CR and I will be running 10psi on the twin screw.
Yea I've been in contact with Hemi31, he's already offered me some great advice and I plan on having him do as much of the work as he is up for, as I have literally heard NOTHING but glowing reviews on him. I think i'm going to go for a forged 6.1 (stock compression) as my first step. This may take longer than I was planning! On the bright side, more time = more $ to put into it so...it balances out I guess.
