the factory (kicker) sub woofer is going bad again.dealership replaced it about a year ago.is the factory amp strong enuff for a ''JLAUDIO'' sub woofer? i think its a 10w-6.
Bama, you have a Mag right? I've been looking into moving my sub and have found out a few things. The factory Kicker amp is INSIDE the kicker box and it's a pain to work with. It needs a 2 ohm sub with a RMS low enough to match it (100wt). That's hard to find in a 10" size. A better route would be one of these ... http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/manualsQuickInstall/thunderforms/DMAGW05_specs.pdf or http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_stealthbox_detail.php?fit_id=1534 The benefit of these is they're loaded and ready to go, just wire up and you're set. A friend and I have been working on just a custom replacement box to fit that same spot and then use our existing Kicker sub and amp (that's how I know so much) but it's proving to be a pain. I may just get the MTX one above and be done with it already, lol!
check out the how to data base for the write up on replacing the kicker sub and stock amp with upgraded kicker components. i did the same up grade and it made a HUGE difference for not too much money!!!
What upgrade is there for the 10" Kicker sub but the dual 10" Kicker sub and I think that's what he wanted to get away from, Kicker subs. I wonder if the amp in it is as crappy as the one in the single. I know the other Kicker upgrades for our cars (amps, speakers) are alot better but it just pisses me off that we paid EXTRA to get the great Kicker upgraded stereo option only to find out there's an even BETTER upgraded Kicker stereo avail. Argh.
