im stuck between a rock and a hard place... i want a nice pigyback or ecu w/tuning capabilities like staged kit w/dtec or afc or an e-manage... i have heard great things about the e-manage, except 2 things. 1)no one in my area can tune it 2) no confirmed results... well i have heard of a few srt's in miami running stage 3's and 3R's and getting 350whp... which is WAY more than i plan, but im a baller on a budget. i would rather get an e-manage and toss on some 750's, agp wg, electronic boost controller and see what i can do. who has an emanage? likes/dislikes? did/does it take away the partial throttle overboost code or the lack of a cat code? thanks in advance...
I would not recommend the e-manage. they are finicky from my experience. I have tuned a few turbo srt's on safc's with good results but it gives you no control over timming. The Ecu I would look into is the new AEM FIC. It is a piggy back that has its own map sensor built in and it controls fuel and timing. Its about 400 bucks.
I don't recommend the DTEC at all! Too many locals having problems with them. The wiring sucks and they fail in which more then likely TurboXS will send you a buffer board as a fix. You would think with the failure rating and complaints on how crappy the wires are they would fix these problems. Yes, DTEC has some nice points of tuning but its not worth the headache. Go with an AFC NEO with a MSD tach adapter.
Well the two that I am aware of that failed around here were installed by shops that work on SRT-4's. That and reading it left and right every other thread on the Nazi forum of their failures its not worth any headaches nor any features. Boost by gear can be had with a AVC-R as well. Plus 1st and 2nd gear is really where you would use boost by gear for lower boost for traction. 3-4 you can keep it at the same boost. So not so beneficial. You can get a Apexi Neo w/tach adapter and get some sort of EBC if different boost settings are a must. Installation doesn't make up for how weak the wires are and their failure rating. Yeah you can use the wideband option as well with the DTEC and a few other features but everytime it fails your back to square one seeing if TurboXS will warranty it. I work with what's proven and known and doesn't have a high failure rating. Most of TurboXS products are crap and that's a fact.
