So, I was supposed to go to Techo today, but had duty this morning. I skipped out early, and went to a different(and $30 cheaper) dyno day and put my car on the dyno. Mods: Unknown. I know that there is a K&N intake (obvious) and looks to have the resonators removed from the exhaust and magnaflow mufflers put on. This is the way I bought it. Dealer says it's chipped, but I have no way of knowing. Anyways, on a dynojet, I got 354 RWHP, 357 RWTQ. I was hoping for more....is this typical of a (mostly) stock SRT?? VIDEO!!! http://www.motorgen.com/vid/showphoto.php/photo/809/limit/recent *reserved for hi-res dyno video....If I can get one*
yup with long tubes and a intake I made 370/364 so your right at the norm. go get a nitrous kit and a diablo. What kinda chip did he say? look at your PCM see if it has a yellow sticker on it that says BG. if it does you have a flash from dave@BG tune. if it has nothing and it didnt come with a pred I would order one.
Stupid question.....where is the PCM?? *edit* Dodge has a nack of putting the PCM in the engine bay, so I went and looked. Sure enough, I found it on the passenger side up against the firewall. Looks stock as it can get.
Yeah that is about right with the slight mods that you have... Also I think that the dealer lied about the "CHIPPED" part... I do think it is time for a Diablo tuner though...
Dyno sheets added!! Anyway, I thought that most SRT-8's put out around 365 stock. Granted, thats only 10 more then I put down, but I figured some exhaust work would help me out a bit.
What were your engine temps? If you were doing pulls with a hot motor, then your dyno numbers are right on. If you dyno with a cold motor, the numbers will increase by 20...
Oh..... The motor was at temp. I just drove 70 miles and the car sat in 80 degree weather for about an hour before getting on there....Then of course, I was sitting at idle for a few minutes waiting for the guy in front of me (in a sick 300C SRT) to get off.
Master what kind of a dyno was it and where did you get it done? I went to AAA CORVETT in oxnard where they have a dyno jet and just made 3 dyno pulls (NO TUNING ) WITH MY 06 MAGNUM I PUT DOWN 372 HP BONE STOCK WITH THE AIR FILTER OUT ON MY 3RD PULL. With air filter in it pulled 359 HP. They dont have the stuff to tune mopars just the vetts. On my JEEP ( BONE STOCK )on a AWDYNOJET i pull 341.69 hp and 352.73 tq at 1721 ft altitude.
Video added!! It was a dynojet 224x...or something like that. I got it done at racers edge tuning in downey, calif. What color Jeep do you have??
I have a story for you. First off I keep hearing that dyno's are for tuning. I was a believer in this but not 100%. Maybe 90%, so a little doubt in my mind. Then I got a 3 dyno runs on my SRT-6. 215 lousy hp. Turns out that when they strapped down the rear they caught the e-brake and one wheel was breaking while trying to dyno. So I went to the track. 15.1 at 106. Spin city. I was feeling some better because of the mph. (it was a 12 pack night after the dyno and only 6 after the track) This Wednesday I went back because the heavy hitters were running so the track was better prepared and I ran a 13.07 at 109.74. (Champagne!) They moral of the story is a dyno is a dyno and no one should judge their results with others on a different dyno. I may go back to the dyno if I mod the car but as it stands now, with the worst dyno in history with a SRT-6 I'm running a corrected 12.88 with only an intake. Go to the track, have fun and you will find out what you have. Les
Sucks about the brake, dude...seriously. I am very aware that a dyno is not a true measure of HP....however, when at a dyno day, and next to other cars, it does let you know how you sit power-wise against them. Also, when I add a mod, I can go back to the same dyno, and see what, if any, difference it makes. Besides, it's always fun to say I have such and such horsepower, and such and such torque...
I've seen a little higher, but lower as well so you are right there for a stocker... the lines sure are jumpy though...
Dynos dont really amuse me any longer. Mines dynoed at 376 stock, brand new in 07 along with alot of others members that ive chatted with over the years. Now i hear people only getting 340hp-350hp at the wheels on certain dynos, so it just kinda tells me its not all that accurate. Dynos are only good to measure the HP of your performance parts IMO.
