My beast sounds like he hitting bad knees !!! Has anybody experience creeping noiise from the upper ball joint area? Which replacement and where did you buy?
Only thing you can do is buy the complete knuckle from the dealer.The ball joints are not currently replaceable....sorry.
Check with SPC for replacement front control arms that are caster/camber adjustable and ball joint is replaceable, for if it goes out again later. Can be bought here: http://www.thmotorsports.com/
i bought two of these to get rid of the creaking. though, i used my grease from hotchkis to lube up the joints and the noise has since gone away. these are 112 bucks at rockauto parts.
So did you replace the ball joint? Was it a huge task? I notice is this holding on with a c-clip? Sorry for all these questions, just trying to understand this -I'm no means mechanical incline but will attempt. Is this ball joint will fit 06 SRT8 Charger - I'm about to order...
Like Erik said, the factory ball joints aren't replaceable...you have 2 options...buy factory control arm every time a ball joint goes out, or buy the SPC control arms that come with adjustable and replaceable ball joints for later on if they need replacing again. I believe Steve was going to modify the factory control arm. Cut out the factory ball joint and install that replaceable one in it's place. he ended up greasing his with the grease he got with his Hotchkis kit, and didn't need to replace them after all... Correct me if I'm wrong guys.
Hey Guys With the cost of the upper ball joint completed - I decides to park the car for awhile in the garage til I had $$$$ to buy - I was bored one day so my buddy and I took of the arm and did what Dookie did - I found out the ball joint was quite dry witth rust colored grease - I remove all ole grease clean out the ball regrease with fresh new grease packed it in - reconnected the booth and carefully reinsert the round clip walking it back on - greas everything under there - reassembled - it worked like a charm - no creeping - smooth Thanks Dookie for sharing your actions
Um, what does the creeping sound like? Out of curiousity because I have this creaking/squeaking noise when the weight is shifted from front to back under acceleration. Its not the swaybars (checked those and got them greased) and the dealership can never seem to hear it.
this sound is definiety a creeping sound - you could try to grap the front fender wheel well ad rock the car up and down - if its the ball joint you will definiety hear and feel he creep. to reconfirm I grapped the upper control arm and gently shook the car andi could feel the rubbing - it was creeping even when I open and close the drivers door. Hope this help and thanks for the FYI and greasing sway bar I never knew that.. Sounds like an old wooden floor from a horror movie when trying to sneak out of the house -- by the way 76k strong miles - replace radiator fan ssembly - greased ball joints - transmission oring gasket - otherwise than that running strong - starting to sound a little loose but I guess that will happen with a daily driver
