wondering has anyone dealt with trying to copyright something...looking into it and dont know where to start thanks
Copyrighting is NOT a patent. They are two very different things, but both protect you (in different ways) against azzholes trying to steal your intellectual property. www.uspto.gov There are forms there that you can print out and send in (with a check, of course) for both patents and copyright. If you're going after a patent, do a PROVISIONAL PATENT APPLICATION first. That will give you 1 year to get your 'big boy' patent together and to the examiners. Most copyright paperwork is a one-time deal. Send it in, done. The one kooky thing about patents/trademarks/copyrights is that it's like court.....BUT.....you immediately start off as the defendant! It's bizarre, but that's how they do it. Also, DO NOT TELL ANYONE ABOUT IT!!!! Not your wife, not your mom, not your dog. It's not that you don't trust them; it's that you don't trust the dildoe listening over their shoulder. If you need to talk to anyone about anything regarding the project, have them sign (in blue ink) an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). I even had my patent attorney sign a NDA! A copyright will be quicker and cost less. A patent will take a very long time (years) and cost a pantload. (I had a choice: 2 patents or 2 Comp Coupes. These frames sure do look nice on the desk. )
Kevan is the MAN for find info for us. Even though Kevan is diligently looking for his very own PINK IPhone.
