So for a while now I have been considering selling my 04 ram qc and gettting a srt8. But I have a few questions that I was hoping you guys could help me out with.

How well do the tranny in the Jeeps hold up to the power? Are they the same trannys that are in the rams?

Is it possiable to put a towing packing on one?

What is expected for milage? I know, if I am looking a milage I should be look else here, I am just looking for an idea of what they get.

    Thanks

The transmissions are basically the same as the ones used in the E55 supercharged Mercedes. I havent heard of anyone having any problems until you are making more than 600hp to the wheels. Myself and many others are running nitrous with over 500hp to the wheels and havent had any problems. There is a few hitch options out there depending on your needs. Most of us see about 13-14mpg around town and up to 15+ on the highway if you are easy on it.

I get 17mpg on level ground at 70mph, 16mpg if it hilly or if I'm going 80(which is usual for me). 13.5 in town, the way I drive.(I play a little too much)

I have read about some tranfercase issues. try searching here and see what you can find if you are conserned about the drivetrain.

I have 24,000 miles and have had nothing go wrong yet (knock on wood).

cool thanks guys, oh keep them coming

I am very glad to here the jeep doesnt have the same tranny the rams do.

Oh what do these things run stock in good D/A...1000 or less ft?

What does it take to break 13.00s?

from what I have read, it doesn't take much to run less than 13 flat. CAI, Headers, cat-back,and a great tune. Porting and Polishing has also seems to be popular also. Or you could just put a big shot of nitrous on it.

I live in Louisiana. In late March, I was running 13.3-13.4 all night long. My only mod is a Borla cat-back. But considering I added a ton of Dynamat & was running with damn near a full tank of fuel, the Borla didn't help much. The same night, a friend with a 06 GC SRT was running 12.9s with only a Predator & home-made CAI.

I am hoping to get one, but the only bad thing is, is how much they are. My dealer has a 08 and they want 48k for it. Man I am only 23yrs lol....What is a good price on a used one? I found a 07 for 34900.

The tranny is a 5spd, & the towing rate is lower than a reg GC. IMO, you should have no prob getting an '08 for less than $48k.

Coming from a heavily modded 05 Hemi QC it's night and day difference in the Jeep I would of thought I would miss the truck but have not missed it one day since I sold it and bought the Jeep.
Big selling point for me vs the truck were, AWD, NO 545 tranny (yeah), no modding the exterior cause it looks pimp stock. So with the AWD I am now able to put all the power to the ground and take off instead of spinning the rear wheels all day long on the truck plus its a whole different group of people in the SRT side of things, yeah I still hang with the Hemi truck guys but the SRT guys are more of my crowd. I ran a 12.88 STOCK first time to the track, it was cold and low D/A and shocked the heck out of me and spectators but it did break into the 12's. Now every vehicle has its issues and Jeep has its but thats the chance you take with any vehicle, at least now Builder Bill has built and markets a super duty transfer case for the jeep ($3,000) OUCH but the sucker is down right bullit proof if you plan on putting down over 500-600 HP

Go USED .. take advantage of the huge depreciation these cars have ...

Take a clean 06 loaded for $17 -$20 with reasonable mileage and your all good.

I remember you from DT Wade, we chated a few times about HIDs and the rams.

Are there many famus problems that the jeeps have??

I havent seen a 06 for sale here, what is decent mileage on one of these?

I found a 07 with 4k miles for 35,000. it is at a dealership and they have had it for 120 days so I am goin to offer 30k for it.

There are some deals out there. I am 23 as well and bought my 06 back in november. Now is a great time to buy one since the market sucks and people are afraid of trucks/suvs.

I was hopin that they way the market it that it will make them want to get rid or rides like these but they dont want to budge, it does help that I am tryin to trade in a truck too. Plus I dont want my payments very high.

I am tryin to get a srt8 under 30k, I know it's goin to be tough. But I can wait my truck isnt givin me any problems.

I did get to test drive one today, holly cow what a beast!!!!!!!!!!!
