The local dealer has a black '07 with about 7k miles on it. Demonstrator and never titled, no nav but I don't know about the other options. Looks like a used one same year/miles would sell for around 30k or so. What would be a good price to get this one for? My wife's 4Runner will get upgraded soon and this sure would do the trick :)

Considering the downfall of the BIG 3 Auto Makers, I would go in with a reasonable offer. Say 35K. These guys NEED to make sales of chance folding like many other Chrysler Dealers have in the past few weeks.

May take the wife over for a test drive tonight. I certainly don't want to insult them, but I seriously think 30k is a better number for that Jeep. They don't seem to be selling for over that right now on ebay and such...unless there's something I don't know.

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

yea. Start at 30 then need to sell it more than you need it. Shop around if it's never been titled and has that many miles I would think track exp jeep or atleast beaten up from the stealership

I'd go for a used 08 with all the nicer features instead of 07 that's had the SHIT beat out of it on demos for 7k mile

    Just my thoughts Eric

The test drive was fun! It actually has 8990 miles on it and has been at this dealer since new, it's the dealer's wife's car.

It was a strong runner for sure, but I was driving with traction control on so it did a couple weird things when stomped on...kind of a little spin, hesitation, then wham you are gone. Then there was a little hesitation on the 1-2 shift and then wham it was gone again. I don't know what normal is for these things, but it didn't make any strange noises and drove and braked very well. One thing that really hit me yesterday is the fact that Jeeps are not big vehicles, I don;t know if I would say it is too small though...close call though.

So the Jeeps for '08 got the same kind of interior upgrades that the LX's got?

They are going to call me back to and I'm sure try to deal. I don't know what I want to do but I know I'm not going to jump into anything.

Excue me, but a 9000 mile 07 is NOT a new car!! Used as a deminstrator is a big RED LIGHT. This thing is a heavly used car and if driven like most demo cars should be considered to have been given severe treatment and maintained as such. This would mean I would not even consider that car without a complete 15 and 30k maintenance of the complete drive train including diffs, transfer case and transmission lubercation servicing. Also would insist on new brake pads and possibly rotars as this a majoy wear point for these beasts. Also make sure tires are okay although they are half worn out. All total, that is about $2500 to $3k worth of work. Insist on at least a factory 7/70 service maintenance warranty extension (these are on sale now for about $1500). Finally, the driving quirks you describe are not normal and it may need reflashing for the TCM and other problems. In other words, be very very cautious.

I make sure I drove a newer model if available to compare and I would not offer more than normal NADA trade in value for that year and condition car. They can do the work described above far cheaper than the retail prices quoted so you may get more interest than you expected. I think you are looking at a offer in the high 20's and I wouldn't offer 30k unless they agreed to all the abovel. JMO (P.S. I'm hearing about people buying new ones for $1000 under invoice). Good luck

Thanks for the reply, they did call back and say they could do $29,995 but I think I will pass on this one. I do think this will make a good replacement vehicle for my wife someday...maybe next month, maybe next year. Time to start looking for the right one at the right price :)

I do want to try and drive another one to see if the launching/shifting characteristics I was feeling are normal or not because like you said...it didn't seem right. The SRT TE was over a year ago for me so the memory isn't vivid, but I think I remember them taking off better.

Unfortunately(for those who paid sticker), you should be able to get a used one for under $29k easily. IMO, I wouldn't turn off TC, too many issues w/those who do & run them hard.
