I picked up my car tonight after 5 months since discovering my pistons were detonating themselves to death and my oil pump was grinding itself to death...two separate issues from the original shop. Aside from new pistons (raised compression ratio to 10.5:1)/bearings/rings/oil pump/timing set/poly motor mounts/SFI flex plate/cleaned up stock exhaust manifolds, 4.085" bore ...it remains the same I haven't gotten on it too hard (well, ok, maybe six times) but it sure seems smoother and "peppier." It just feels to rap quicker than it used to with the original 426 but I could be so f'ed up because I barely remember my car. Looking forward to meeting a bunch of you in Irvine, CA this March!!
Sorry to hear about the misfortune but hopefully it will NOW run stronger than ever! Wishing you well!
Congratulations! I know its been a long time coming. I can't wait to meet you at SF5. Did you use the motor mounts from High Side? If so, how much virbration are you getting?
Well it is ABOUT time, Jon. haha Congrats buddy, I know how much you have been longing to drive the beast again.
I did. So far I THINK I have a little more vibration at idle...I have a slight rumble I can feel in my feet and the new motor mounts are what I am attributing it to so far. My original tune had the knock sensors incative below 100 degrees celsius (212 degrees F). Totally human caused. It wasted my pistons and scufffed my block. My crank gear was inadequately clearanced to fit my K-1 crankshaft and it put the oil pump gears in a bind. Both of the above were expertly done at DCXDepot who was PPP's shop for a few years. I know you do bro! Thanks everyone!!!! I drove around last night going nowhere in particular and had such a good time I met a guy with a Silver Challenger SRT8 manual and exchanged numbers...he said he wanted a stroker. Then ran into another inferno red 2006 Charger SRT8 with temp tags on it at a convenience store (oh ok, I confess...I saw him parked there and pulled in close to him ) It is so nice to be back driving a bitchin' car with a decent set of balls. 23,677 miles on the odometer
