So you all knew I was getting an LM Speed TB to test but I also have an Arrington. The Arrington is massive compared to the LM.It has a larger body, larger throat and is billet instead of cast. Installation is as simple as swapping it out with stock. The TB bore measured out to 94mm.The first time I tried it I did not have a 4" CAI and stretched the silicone sleeve from my Airhammer over the inlet.......well being fed with a 3.5" CAI saw no improvement at all. So after I got the 4" CAI and ran the LM TB I reinstalled the Arrington unit.Again......just an awesome piece to look at. So I start the car and it starts just like stock....revs to 1200 and settles down to 700rpm after a minute or so.So far so good.......pull out of the driveway and go for an nice long ride.....just as I did with the LM.......the first surprise is that it feels just like stock on light acceleration and cruising. There was no surging and no jerking.WoW!I am impressed so far......do some WOT pulls and I notice the tip in is much closer to stock than the LM.Where the LM has tire smoking fury on tip in the Arrington is smooth and controllable with strong smooth acceleration. The Arrington pulled very strong and the tires would break loose on the 1-2 every time.So I am getting comfortable with the way the car drives......a little to comfortable,as I went into limp mode under a normal low rpm.Pull the car over, shut off, restart, all is well and go on my merry way with driveability that will let me get caught off guard again. So just as the other the Arrington will need to be tuned for the vehicle so the limp mode issues can be avoided.SOTP felt a very nice gain, and again my car in not even close to stock and I am running a ported intake.Just as with the LM I will be scheduling a dyno session to compare them to the stock TB and I will run them both at Englishtown on the 16th.
You forward to your future reports Erik. Slow down, I don't even have my car back yet. Forged, SC, N2O, 90MM or should I say 94MM. You'll be running 11.50's at 95 pretty soon. LOL
Was the limp mode after about 2 hours? Sounds like Nathan's experience with the dual TBs. I think he might know a way around that.
Nope.....about 15 minutes on the third start, doing a steady 50 mph.....it hates that steady throttle stuff.Just more air than the PCM want to see.
