Has anyone else had this issue. This started a few weeks ago. After the car is running about 10 minutes or so the airbag light in the instrument cluster will chime and light up and stay on. Seems like the sensor must be messed up, it doesn't do it when there is someone in thh seat, only when the passneger seat is empty. I know that the system is supposed to sense weight and turn off the passenger airbag if there is no one there Apparently my car has decided to start telling me in case I can't tell there is no one else in the car lol! I tried resetting the PCM etc..and it still does it..man I hate taking my car to the dealer!

    found this:

I had the red light on after a very large friend got out of the car. Took it to my friends dealer (after my dealer said it would take hours) and had them recalibrate the OCS (occupant classification system). Took the dude like 10 minutes with the starscan tool. They put a mockup of a human's upper legs with some metal weights in it on the passenger seat. Calibrate the seat with nothing it it, simulated small child, and simulated light woman.

    Lights are now off.

If you get just the yellow light in the center stack on, that is normal if you have a breif case or something in the seat. It thinks a small child or pet is on the seat and deactivates the passenger air bag. If the red light is on, there is a calibration problem, and if the red light is not on but the yellow light is on with absolutly nothing in the seat, there might be a slight calibration problem as well.

If you have anything light in the seat, like a cell phone, jacket, briefcase this is normal it is indicating to you that it is acknowledging that there is someone too light or small in the seat and for safety reasons the airbags will not deploy
