WOW! Hly F'n Chit!!! ^$&^%^&%^@@()_ Even though it's GM, that is pure beefy muscle car boner on wheels! And you can be assured that will come in a six-speed manual. :yahoo:
Shit. I'm almost sold on it. Luckily, I'll get to see some pimped out Challengers before this beast is unleashed.
The 2009 Challenger with the 6.4 hemi, 6 speed manual tranny with 3.92 gears will eat those camaros up... bring on the Z06...
I love em both. There is so much more available for an LS2. Smitty ran 10.60's with a cam and 175 shot on his GTO, with the normal bolt-ons, converter, and stock rear. Already has a 90MM throttle body. There still is talk of an LS7 Camaro.
HalV is dead on. Regardless of what the factory puts in, at least with a GM product there's 4 billion aftermarket companies and available parts to cram in there instantly. Three years after I got my SRT-8, there's still no way to change my gear ratio. There's one working chip tuner. There's almost nothing available to upgrade the tranny except for a Mercedes tuner company. There are no driveshaft upgrades. Buying pistons, rods, and cranks is still an exercise in finding GM parts that are close, machining journals to fit, and custom ordering pistons. Blah blah blah blah. That being said, there's no rear wheel drive competition for the LX platform I'd rather have....... Yet. 40 years ago Chrysler noticed people were drag racing the Duster, and started coming out with options and features people wanted in response. They embraced what their customers wanted. Today, they've built cars that customers are thrilled with visually, and have embraced with aftermarket of VISUAL mods, but continue to flip us the bird on PERFORMANCE modding.
i say we pool our resources and create an SRT performance parts company and develop our own!!!!... ok maybe not...but it would be cool haha...
I do already have a brand new everything LS2 403 stroker with a solid roller and Jesel Y2K rockers laying around. I sold my D1SC ProCharger, but I guess I could buy another one. LOL
And you could drop that in a new Camaro 10 minutes after you buy one. That's the frustrating part. A "well-working" 426 stroker, finally arrived in about september of 2007 once the Predator finally showed up and someone CMR tuned it. Gee - that only took THIRTY MONTHS. (That being said - I still love my SRT-8, and was one of the very first to order the Challenger. I'll just take everything off my 300 and put it on the Challenger.)
yeah the after market has been slow to catch up to the SRTs but I still love these cars too. I think they've got more style then anything out there regardless of what parts are available. Now the camaro and the challenger together is gonna be another story. Maybe the challanger will spark the aftermarket support and then the older LXers will get to jump on that.
Well....Im in love with my Mag. So far it has fulfill my expectations quite well. Power, looks and a great family car (wagon). It is a quite probable i will keep her as i did with the Trans Am (fully paid for). Having said that the aftermarket has been too slow catching up with the SRT8 lineup and my believe is it will never bee as half good as it is for the GM LSX lineup...ever. I wont probably go for either the new Camaro or the Challenger but at this point I have a tendency to lean in favor of the Camaro. These two are vehicles that will be get into the hands of people with a modding approach mind. The Camaro will have endless options in that matter. The Challenger will be severely handicapped. It will be a relatively low production car in comparison to the Camaro counterpart so hopes are dim. In the end, Im a Firebird guy and it was killed, apparently for good. If it eve comes back MAYBE I will consider one. For now Im all set with my two beasts...
