Warm (or hot) tap works fine. As long as your water runs clear, you're pretty much in good shape. I do these sort of installations about 4-5 times...
It doesn't need to be totally wet. The moisture just makes getting the airbubbles out pretty easily. I use 70% isopropyl alcohol and water instead...
