I am using one in my baby. Works great, every time. I simply fabricated my own bracket for it and installed it in the trunk sideways and used the extra room for the MSD system. Looks good and works awsome.

For this reason NAPA stopped carrying Optimas and are now carrying their own "Orbital" line which is a sealed gel cell as well. And I have to say I have only had one failure in the Orbital line and it was replaced without incident. The failure of the Orbital was that it started to fail under load. It would take a charge and hold a full at voltage but didn't have enough cranking amps to turn over the engine (Old Mustang V8). Seems it was a bad production run and was replaced without the need for a receipt or anything. This is the kind of replacement I expect from a battery that costs so much.

At least you can return it if something goes awry with it. :thumb2:

There really isn't any other Gel Cell batteries, per se..... (There is, I'm sure, for marine and industrial applications.)

Check these out (look under Products:Batteries:SP1700)

Not to get off subject. But why is Florida hard on batteries. It is hard on batteries here because of the cold. So would the battery failures be related to the air conditioning being on 24-7:hmm:

Here in South Florida I lost my SRT8 OEM battery in less than 23 months. Heat kills the fluids and cells die. My Durango battery lasted almost 3 years.

In the summer months, the heat and the humidity really kill them.

Heat I can understand. Humidity? They're sealed? It would certainly heighten the disappointment as you're standing there soaked in sweat waiting for a jump.
