I want to widen my stock rear wheels, like Chris (legmaker) did, so that I can accommodate a 295+. Where can I get this done in SOCAL by a reliable source?!?! If not, Chris, where can I ship my wheels to?!?! What could I expect to pay?!?!

One thing to consider, since I am doing the same thing but (widening then chroming) is it takes a bit, so you may want to know you won't need the car or make arrangements for other wheels. I 'think' you have to widen first and then chrome since this was one of the questions Weldcraft asked me when I spoke to them on the phone. They are located in Michigan but I know there were others in FL. California should have a few reputable ones as well.
Jason's car is a "Trailer Queen" car....even though it's in the garage! He's lucky enough to have a take home car at work. I remember a few months back when there was a chance of "precipitation" here in San Diego when the Momo's were coming over for dinner. Jason drove the wifes Marano in fear of a few sprinkles EVER hitting his car!!!

Ok you bastards (my new favorite word for the week)... I checked weldcraft's website. I'm looking at around $200 per tire to widen at their shop. Since I'm doing the rears only, about $400 total for labor and materials. This is a mod I will do, once I figure out where to get it done. *Milan, they'll get chromed afterwards... 5150SRT8 has a hookup in LA with discounts for LEOs! Woot! Seriously, this mod will be done. The chrome for the look and the widening for a little more traction... plus it'll look bad ass too. *Rick, yes she's a garage queen to a degree... she's seen rain... 3 times.

I called Weldcraft and spoke to the dude. Apparently their site is outdated and he's looking for 260 per rim. He said he also needs 2 weeks.

jason - i see you were obviously looking at my rear end while we where in irvine!!! hahahahaha to answer your question, weldcraft in michigan is the ONLY place i would send them!!!! mine ran 250 per wheel. you MUST widen first then do any painting or chroming........ also, remember, you have to run a spacer in order to get the tires to clear the inside of the fender. i actually ground out some of my plastic inner fender to allow for an even bigger tire, but you really do not need to as long as you run a 5mm spacer!!!!! i am looking to ask dan at BT if they could make some spacers that are truly hub centric to keep from having any vibration. this is a mod that you will love and makes the friggin car look badazz from the back!!!!
but that makes the tire have a "bulge" profile to it when looking at the side wall. i wanted the tire to have a side wall that went striaght up from the wheel......

295's on stock wheels will work just fine, it is the manner in how they look on the wheel that i do not particularly like.

I was under the impression that 295's weren't really safe on 100% stock wheels, especially for the twisties... where I got that from, I don't remember... So, technically, I could throw 295's on my rear without having the wheels widened and still be able to toss her around the twisites?!!? *how much of a bulge is there? slight? massive? I ask only because if I could save $$$ by not widening the wheel, that $$$ could go towards something else that I'm dreaming about... ** also, without widening the wheel, would 295's still give me a little extra grip on launch?!?! *** would I still need the 5mm spacer with a wheel that was not widened if I threw on 295's?!?!
momo - with a stock width wheel, no spacers needed. as for twisties, they will flex a bit more, but will work reasonable. the bulge is definately noticeable. i will go take a picture of my neighbors car. he is running 275's in the front, 295's in the rear on stock wheels. he has a silver one like yours with "legmakered" wheels!!!! i will post the pics asap!!
I currently have 2 wheels at Weldcraft to be widened 1.5" also...only if they can fix the damage. James there said the metal sometimes has a "memory" and when they cut the wheel it may try to return to it's damaged state. Here are 275's on stock rear wheels.
