not really sure steve........ considering it was a non stop freeway driving excursion, it may have blown by some more than usual oil amounts.....

Glad you made it home safe bro..As far as the catch can goes, every car will use a different amount.Depends on mods/driving styles etc, etc,Definitly a good investment.
Not to mention it looks good too..

I would have added a picture too but I needed to go outside and flip my steaks! boneless ribeye $7.99 a lb! I had to take advantage of the price and have them cut me one about 2.5 inchs thick :woot:

We were just discussing this on another thread. (and I've been begging people for months to keep track so we can get some idea of what's normal -- naturally the catch can would be a factor). I'm not sure driving habbits would make a difference. Blow by shouldn't effect it. Oil doesn't vaporize at the temps we might see so temp shouldn't make a difference, or at least have a direct effect. It's probably mainly a result of oil misting and time spent at rpms (assuming more rpms means more mist in the crank case?). I figure our oil squirters might play a part in it.

I don't have enough miles on the can for a large enough sample but it looks like about 35ml over 1500 miles. Bit more than an ounce. I've got a McKinney catch can but I'd expect it to be similar?

Maybe this could be a good question for the next SRT chat sessions? Do they still do those?

The question would have to be "What is it about our engines that causes them to generate more oil through the PCV valve than others". The answer to "Do we need a catch can?" a long time ago was "We cannot recommend using a catch can" -- natch, it's not emissions approved.

doh... EXACTLY 5,532 miles. How much oil? "about that much". Those baby bottles with the wide mouth and graduated markings on the side work great to collect it in.
