I watched Pinks All Out on the Speed Channel yesterday and have to say one of the dudes would have pissed me off if I was the competitor, down by two races and about to lose. He was lingering at the line and revving his car before the nod making it seem like there was something wrong with his tranny. He made it look like he couldn't pull up or something along those lines knowing that the guy he was racing was having overheating issues. The other racer knew that he was stalling to get his ride to heat up too much and have a poor run. I understand there's games involved in drag racing but many people I've seen are down-right dirty racing. No ethics in my opinion especially when your ride is on the line. I've heard stories of sabotaged lines on turbos, to sandbagging every chance one gets. Any one have any other tricks? lol.
Drag racing is mental as well as equipment. Turbo cars have the biggest disadvantage because of heat they create in the transmission. Nitrous Cars,Supercharged or NA just pull into the lights and drop the hammer when both vehicles are staged. A Turbo car has to hold the car with the footbrake while reving it while boost builds up, when both cars are staged you apply the transbrake. This process creates incredible heat and if your opponent holds at the prestage for a while, you will burn the trans quick. I litterally got into a fist fight after beating a guy down the track once. Anytime you intentionally want a guy to break parts is bullshit.:domotwak:
In real dragracing, when one person stages, the other must stage whithin a specified number of seconds or they are disqualified.
You are correct but on a 1800+ HP car with 5000 Stall, the heat will eat the trans faster than the 8-10 secs you have to move in. It is also very rare for the starter to drop the tree in that alotted time. Even in NHRA Powerade series, you see the burndown games in Pro Stock.
If you guys were on Pinks...would you run all out no matter what the consequences? Some of the dweebs on there just bug me lol..aside from Rich Christenson lol.
