You didn't think they replaced all the body panels when there's hail damage, did you? BTW- to keep beer cold, don't use dry ice. Use an ice/salt mixture. I think it was 5:1.
Nope, unless the paint was damaged/cracked during the initial denting. --------------------- The new hub-spindle assy. was installed last night. Finished about 4AM. Everything was loc-tite'd then torqued to spec (330 N-m for that nut on the hub!!!) I was wiped out, so the new rotors will get done later today. It's not every day that you get to see a Jag on jack stands, so here ya go: Rachel's reaction: "My Jaguar has no paws!!!"
Ironically, the brakes just locked up on this project. AUTO ZONE = EPIC FAIL. Since Thurs., they've told me "the rotors will be here tomorrow.", and I've been scheduling accordingly. I called them tonight, after I knew all deliveries had finished for the day. They told me "We're having a problem getting them from the manufacturer." FAIL That means at least (3) more days of no Jag. I guess I'll try Napa tomorrow. Wizzeak.
Cool, I have a really small dent I'll try that on (CA probably has some sort of environmental ban on dry ice). Loc-tite (or anything for that matter) a good idea when torqueing? nope, they usually leave them on bricks.
Liquid threadlockers (good ones, like Loc-tite) won't affect a torque setting when still in it's liquid form. If it's gone to "crusty" before torquing, then it should be cleaned off and re-applied prior to any torque checking. The 'paste' or 'tape' or 'pre-applied' threadlockers *can* mess with torque, but it will be minor.
Then I could have waited even longer to get the rotors: NAPA told me today, "I could have them here by Friday." Ummmmmmno.
In an insanely ironic twist, the DEALERSHIP has (2) rear rotors *in stock*!!! Not only that, but they're $20 cheaper than any of the part places! This cat is getting DONE!!!
Okay...here we go.... POT HOLE DAMAGE ONLY - $416.83 w/o purchase of new wheel. - $536.83 w/purchase of new wheel. - DOES NOT include approx. 10 hrs. of labor. (I'm being VERY kind with that number). BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS ONLY - $364.76 - Approx. 3 hrs. labor. Some pics..... I finally got a good daytime shot of the pothole: That's 24 hours *after* it had been filled in! Finished the front rotors and calipers on Sunday night: (took the pics on Monday morning...heh heh) Rear rotors! So pretty: Even prettier! It wasn't supposed to be a major project, but it certainly turned into one quickly. All from a stupid stripped lug nut.
